Does anyone know how to get the overlaps removed when covering with silkspan and nitrate dope? I've tried sanding after a couple of coats of nitrate but I either cut through or raise all kinds of fuzz.

Raising the fuzz is good. Just apply more dope, several very wet flowing coats and wet sand again until it does not raise anymore. Ahhh fond memories................and some not so fond, after you have that new car showroom finish it will continue to shrink for months and show every glue joint.

I just finished doing mine in nitrate and silk span. Mix a batch of baby powder and nitrate, then thin it so you can brush it on. Worked great. After that, a final coat of pure dope to seal in the powder. Smooth as glass.
