Default Tachometers

My old (2yrs) tachometer is acting funny and I wondered if anyone has an oponion about what brand I should get for a reliable new one. I could not find any info in the threads. Thanks

Fromeco makes the TNC tach. I sort of like the older model better but the new one is top of the line.

The tach sold by Horizon under the Hanger 9 label is less expensive but still has worked good for me. I've tried several Glowbe's and the hobbicoo but they are not worth carrying home. You really get whay you pay for in this catagory.
JMHO from hands on use.

The TNC is the only type to consider.

You do not need to hold the tach real close to the prop and they work on a cloudy day.

It's the benchmark of tachs.

BEFORE YOU GO OUT AND SPEND ANY MONEY... what is your Tach doing??

My Tach is over 10 years old and working just fine, the days when it was acting odd included when I had it in the 3 bladed position when I was working on a two bladed prop, and then there was the day that the battery was failing (I got irratic readings).

Once I had the switch half way between the on and off settings [:@]

Bottom line here, double check the easy stuff before you pull out your wallet.

My old GloBee doesn't have to be held close to the prop & it works very well on a cloudy day.

I've got a Glowbee. It's in behind the workbench on the floor with all the spider webs.

Maybe mine should be there too. Coincidentally, in the glo-engines forum I was just bragging about how strong my Tower 75's are & it appears that my RPM figures are seriously adrift with the rest of the world. [&o]

OK -- don't buy a GloBee.

I bought a Glo-Bee once and sold it a week later. Get a TNC. You won't be disappointed.

Well that's quite timely -- mine no longer works at all!! [] I guess that the enthusiastic readings were the last fling before death .
