Default Falcon 56 Wing

Got some digital pics of the damage as it is now?

the first step will be making some wing ribs... as you've noted. Best is to take one of the salvageable ribs frm the shattered wing section and use it as a template. Cut around it carefully with a blade. Sand the slots in wth sandpaper glued to scraps of the spars, and the slots will be exactly right.

I always try to salvage and rebuild rather than start over if its even remotely feasable. I've got a wing from a Sig Kobra that only the center 4 bays (the sheeted bays) are original balsa.

It depends on how the center section of the wing is. If it is OK, then you could build another right side and attach the two. I, personally, would build a completely new wing. That way you can make sure it is strong, and light. Sometimes when you build a new wing half, one side will be less flexible than the other, and that can cause some problems.

The Falcon 56 wing is pretty simple so "scratchin" one shouldn't be too big a problem, and it'd actually be fun!

Just refer to the plans for a wing rib template (they're all the same in that wing). The single spar arrangement they use is NOT good engineering in my estimation...so you may want to substitute by using TWO wing spars (top and bottom...linked by shear webs). Easy.

That's a great plane. Get 'er fixed and get back in the air!
