Anyone have any suggestions for making a rack for the bed of a pickup to transport the planes? The small planes are a no brainer, but the 66 and 70 inch wings are a bit large for the interior.

I have the same issue.2 planes with 60 - 70 in spans. I was just gonna go to Lowes and buy a buncha PVC pipe with elbows, T's, and unions. I figured I would put the fuselages on the left and right of a center section and have the two out sides hold a wing on each side. I have drawn several styles on paper but so far I see no plan that reaches out and says "thatsit man". Guess I will just make sure I have plenty of pipe when I start to cut. I will post a picif I get something put together here soon.
My truck has hold downs at each corner so Ido plan on using them with bungy straps to keeo the whole assy in the truck.

Buy some PVC pipe, T's and elbows and build a rack /cradles to hold your fuselages and wings in your truck bed. I built mine to fit between the wheel wells in my pickup and can carry three fuelages and wings. I made "U" shape cradles to hold the fuselages and place the wings length-wise between the fuselage cradles. Be sure to pad the cradles with foam pipe insulation to protect the finish on your planes.

Ive been playing with the idea of making a PVC rack for about 3-4 planes - fuse only - where the planes will stand on their nose and be leaned up against the rack at about 70 degree angle. Any ideas? Tight on space in the garage as I like to actually keep my cars in there... and dont want to get into hanging anything.

One idea. The plane is a 60 size model with 71 inch wing span.

JerryM has several prefabbed carriers for sale in the RCU ads normally. You might want to look there.

ro347, this may help you. I saved this pic a long time ago, but never tried to make one. Looks simple enough to make, and could be sized to fit your own needs. Holds both fuse and wing. This should be the first pic, and the next one may be useful to someone.

I used to do this. But I dont use my truck anymore to haul airplanes. I use a home made trailer pulled by my civic.
