Default Saran wrap and Z-poxy

Will Z-Poxy finishing resin used for fiberglassing eat through Saran Wrap? Looking to make some gear doors and looking for something to put down on the wing so the fiberglass won't stick to it. If you have any suggestions please feel free to share them. Thanks and have a great day! Tony

The "Big Boys" those doing the fancy scale models say to use a plastic iron-on film for this purpose. i.e Moneycoat or Ultracoat.

the clear backing is all i use monocote for. great for laying up gear doors, etc right on top of the fuse or wing.

I have successfully used Saran wrap for the purpose that you intend.

I did the trick where you put the Saran wrap over the epoxy on a wing joint then squeegee it under the wrap. It give you a smooth glassy finish if done right. It worked as advertised until i went to peel the wrap off. The wrap was gone! It dissolved between the tacky period and the final cure of the epoxy. I had checked on it about half way through to make sure it was working. The wrap peeled back with no problems. The next morning, no more Saran Wrap. No big deal in this case, but if I had put it under the epoxy for a gear door, I would have been a bit miffed!.

I've used Saran wrap on epoxy many times and have never had a problem with it being effected by the epoxy. JeffH, are you sure it was Saran wrap or some other brand of clear food wrap? I'm quite sure none of the epoxy brands will dissolve Saran Wrap. I also use it as you did on your wings with great success without any problems of it dissolving.
