Hey Willie B.! !

Glad to see that you used those old Executive Tables! I have built countless models using those as the base for a "FLAT" building board I built up using a piece of 1.625" Flooring Plywood then using 2" angle iron to secure the flooring ply and insure it did not warp. Would set the "Building Board" on the Exe. Table and away I would go! As mentioned in my original post, I am currently building the Torsion Box Building table 4' x 8' as the models I'm currently interested in are at the 50% scale level.

Countryboy, That is one good looking Pitts! Is the model from Scratch or Kit? Can always tell a fellow "southerner" can't have too many "Portable Storage Facities" (Trailers) ;)

I have two currently and they house some "BIG" models, sure nice not to have to UNLoAD them once at the house!

Nope, not a scratch built or a kit. :) It's just a little ole Goldberg Pitts 12 ARF powered with a Saito 150. Same colors as originally covered with, just in a different layout. I just purchased another one Friday that was on clearance, and that one in the pic is being repaired after an engine out failure.

Well, here's my shop looking about as clean as it has in a long time. I have a small garage and my wife still likes to park on her half, so I don't have a lot of room but it gets me by. I built the workbench myself and the nice thing about it is that if I need the extra space, I just retract the legs (they fold up and down with locking hinges) and fold it down against the wall...I just have to remember to clear all my stuff off the table top or it's a helluva mess...LOL. I just finished an Extra 330L, but I'm still tuning the engine. My next project is sitting in a box that just came today...

This is a very interesting thread & quite informative.

I'm in the process of relocating my work bench/cupboards to a more desired location under the house. The new location will be specifically built with modelling as the priority - that means lots of lighting, tons of power outlets, building boards & custom made model storage racks.

Plenty of ideas here, so I will have no excuse if things dont work out [:-]

Mine is a little room in our basement. If i want to use my bandsaw, disk sander or schroll saw, i have to pack them outside. It's a little cramped for space but i don't mind that much, at least i have somewhere to build.

I spent several months finishing out my garage. It was just bare studs when I started; since then I have added electricity, lighting, AC window unit, workbenches, and of course the obligitory PC, TV, satellite radio and DVD player with 5.1 surround sound. All I need now is the beer fridge.

You are exactly right about not mixing any libation and power tools, BUTTTTTT When the work is done, you've just about got your model finished, and you've set it on the work bench perhaps with the wing on.... go to the Fridge, pull out your favorite long neck, sat down in a chair with a fan blowing on you.. NO A/C here... and simply watched in your minds eye your creation take flight! ! ! I'm certainly guilty of doing that over the last 40+ years...<BOG>

Oh, I've got the little 'fridge alright. It's in what we call the Great Room (oversized TV/den/whatever room).

I found that with the little fridge in the building shop, about half-way through the first pull on the jug I'd spot something -else- that needed doing, and about two hours later (or oh-two-dark-thrity) the suds were flat, the something else still wasn't right, and I was only gonna get four hours sleep before it was I Owe time.

These days it works a lot better for me (and I get a bit more sleep) if I have to wander back up to the house to find a brew when I'm done ruining another batch of wood.

Different planet altogether. Most eyeballs around here are separated by at least a finger's width . . .

Here's my 16 x 40 workshop, with my new 8' x 3' steel top building board. A couple more cabinets to add, and she'll be ready for some serious building.

And the wife knows, when you pass thru these doors, the only talk is building or flying.. :)
