Im moving into a new apartment in the next few weeks. This time i have a whole bedroom to devote to a hangar, oh i cant wait. Now need to figure out a nice way to make tools and parts accessible without tearing up the wall. As soon as i get things settled ill try to post pictures and maybe ask questions.

Actually, it leaves a 10' wide pad at one end and a 20' wide at the other. It sits at the back of out lot, behind the cross fence, in MAN COUNTRY.....where it won't bother my better half! One of these photos shows the back patio, another is the back lawn from the back patio - and the shop will be behind the redwoods and fence there.

These are my aircraft and all I have at the moment is a spare bedroom to keep them in. I've attached pictures of the way I keep them off the ground. This has got to be the best way to keep model planes off the floor so they won't get broken and take up the whole room.

I do the same 'cept I use 1/2" EMT metal conduit instead of wood dowel.

That shed your building is awesome. My plans for my shed will be going to the council in about a months time. It's only 20 x 10 feet. Not as big as yours. I also reckon Ill get rid of the wood and make the model racks out of steel.

Here's what I use for racking models on the wall.

Shelf standards from the local building supply. Add a little pipe wrap and you are good to go. Brackets can be from 6" to maybe 16" It depends on your store stock.

Mine are 12" and 14".

It's hard to get a reference for scale here, but the ladder is 7' tall, the side walls are 4' centers, and the back wall is 30'. The RC room is 28' x 30' with a 9' wide, 8' tall sectional door and two 3'x6'8" walk-thru doors, one outside and one thru to the welding area. The welding area is 16' x 30' with a 16'x8' sectional and an outside man door. Carport/awnings are ~3 weeks down the road.

Here is my shop. The pictures are a little old. It is a mess right now but I am working on it.
I have a 1948 International pick-up project in there somewhere.

Iglohead, what a messy shop, you'd better clean that mess up. Just kidding:D:D:D, very nice shop, the International from what I can see looks like a fun project, any more pics of that paticular project, or is it "on hold"? You need to build a few airplanes to hang from the ceiling also.:D:D Thanks for the pics.

A local fella did an International like yours, it was "pro-street", bright red, big block Chevy. What's your plans for yours?

Hey DelRay,
I would like to see that pro street International! I am streed rodding mine. I have C-4 Corvette suspension up front and plan the same for the rear but have yet to find a hub to hub rear. Not that I have been looking but if I came across one at a good price I would buy it. I moth balled (buried) the project a couple of years ago and am always itching to get back to it. I just can't seem to shake this RC bug and just don't have the time to do both. I guess it will just have to wait for a burn out period. It is liable to be a while as I am about to start on a Don Smith B-29 build. More to come on that later.

This is just a temporary shop while I am at school. My dad's shop back home is set up for furniture-making, but he allows me my space for static and R/C models. Talk about a space crunch! this is in our storage room in the garage, approx 12' x 6', and half is used for storage (go figure!), so I have a 6 x 6' area to work in...so needless to say I won't be doing any big projects any time soon. But at least I have a place to work.

Nothing fancy but it's a place to call my own! I used a lot of salvaged materials and keep the cost low ($300). It's only 12' x 16' but big enough for my small operation now. :D (the pics are a little old and it's getting crammed full of stuff already):eek:

Tom, I haven't seen that International I mentioned around the city for quite a spell now, he must have sold it or traded it. It sounds like the B-29 project will be soaking up most of your shop time, but your truck project will also be a nice one. I know, "watch my mouth", but as far as the rear end, Ford nine inch. Pooey, I can't believe I said that.:D:D
I also have another project other than my RC stuff, it's a 55 Chevy that I've owned for 47 years. My latest project on it was a new Tremec five speed to replace the Muncie. I don't want to stray too far off topic here, but if you wanna chat cars I'll gladly send you my e-mail. It's nice to have more than one passion for those "burn out" periods.:D:D
