Can CA hinges be removed with deboner?
I used CA hinges on my Balsa USA stick for combat. The stab has a nasty flex in it when the elevator is deflected. I think something somewhere is not straight. I would like to remove the elevator to try again. The hinges were put on a few days ago with thin CA. Will soaking debonder into the hinges work for removal?
Thanks!!! |
RE: Can CA hinges be removed with deboner?
Nick, unfortunately, debonder will not work. Cut off the hinges and cut new slots next to the old ones. You could also replace the ca hinges with robart hinge points. There was a thread I posted some time back on how to drill through the old ca hinges.

If you use new CA hinges, be sure to leave about a 1/4 inch between the old ones and the new, so the CA will have space to wick into the wood.

RE: Can CA hinges be removed with deboner?
Jackjet, I said that in jest.........HF acid is a real de"boner" as it attacks bone quickly. Pls don't ever use it as a de"bonder", it has no place in R/C

RE: Can CA hinges be removed with deboner?
Hi Jackjet, I used HF in many semiconductor etchants for silicon oxides, poly-silicon, silicon, etc. Handling and storage safety procedures must be followed at all times

Rajul,
you are 1000% correct. Although I would love to serve osama some HF in his tea................. Jackjet |
