Looking for paint compatability for 21st Century Fabric

It seems the 21st Century paints are limited or not being produced anymore. Does anyone know what other paints might be compatable with this iron-on fabric and techniques for application. I do have a 1 oz. gravity feed dual action Air Brush.

Latex paint will have zero compatibility problems, however, you will need to clear coat it to make it fuel proof. If you lightly scuff the surface of the fabric you should have no problems spraying it directly on the fabric without a primer.

MOST other type of paint should be no problems PROVIDED you prime the fabric first AND LET THE PRIMER DRY THOROUGHLY before applying any color coats.

FWIW - latex paint with a clear coat usually is lighter than other paints. Latex can be had in an EXACT color match for about $10 a quart.

How would you thin Latex for shooting with an AB? I've only shot Acrylics with it in the past.

Thin latex with water. I suggest getting a piece of glass and setting it vertical. Practice spraying on the glass just to be sure you have the thinning correct. You should have little or no trouble spraying latex (it sprays almost the same as acrylics). I thin my latex to a slightly thicker than milk consistency. I have gotten my best results at 25 psi - 30 psi.

I frequently spray Krylon over 21st Century fabric. I just mask, sand with 400 grit, and spray.

The pictured MonoCoupe is over ten years old. Gas residue seems to pose no problems.

A friend used Krylon on a glow powered Chipmunk. By wiping down the model after a days flying, his finish lasted until he sold it. (over 3 years.)

What Color of Century 21 paint are you looking for? I have a fairly large supply I'd be willing to part with if the price was reasonable.

Thanks for the offer, but I only need a little blue and a little red and silver. I think I'll find something locally rather than have you send me something from Utah.

It varies from paint to paiint but I tend to dilute down 60% paint 30% water 10% alcohol.
