Default Flea Market finds needing mod ideas

Here I will post my flea market finds that are in need of modification other then my 1/6 scale NB rockcrawler which is still my greatest priced find at $8.00. First off Iwill post my New Bright Bombardier. I think it is 1/6 or 1/8 scale and runs off a 6v hard case battery. It was purchased alone without battery or receiver for $3.00. After some ebay and google research I found a seller who had access to many New Bright transmitters and Ipurchased the one he thought would work for a total of $6.00 shipped. After it arrived, I put batteries in everything and the Bombardier came to life. It has variable speeds on transmitter to change voltage supplied to motor. It has one single 46 tooth by 10 tooth gear between spindle and the axle gear. It has 2.2 inch rims and fair quality tires (little too hard). I tried putting on stock 1/10 scale NB rockcrawler tires but they were too large on front end when turning. Only mod that has come to mind would be either tires and or motor swap. Any suggestions, mod ideas or comments are welcome. Total price after finding an old 6v battery in my toy grade rc's for my camo New Bright Bombardier was $9.00

Default RE: Flea Market finds needing mod ideas

Next my find last weekend was a 1/6 scale I believe InterActive Toy Concepts brand snowmobile from the flea market. It had a 9.6v soft pack New Bright battery in it and no receiver and was priced at $2.00. Upon getting it home I went through my toy grade surpluslooking for a charger for the 9.6v softpack andany 27mhz transmitter Ihad. Afterfinding all the transmitters and an old TYCO brand charger that Ithought would work I plugged the battery in for 6 hours. After plugging in battery and sometrial and error through the 27mhz frequency transmitters Itried the transmitter for my New Bright Bombardier and the skis turned on and steered to the right and the left. The track would try to start going forward and reverse but would not turn. I thought that possibly the frequency was close but not exact, but to check Ipulled out the battery and plugged it into my 1/10 scale NB rockcrawler and the battery didn't even have enough juice to turn the wheels. I am awaiting finding a charger on ebay or somewhere to finish testing and hopefully get this snowmobile going. Any modification ideas, suggestions or comments are welcome.

Texx, Could you post better pics of the transmitter for snowmobile so I can keep an eye out for the proper transmitter? Once I obtain a 9.6 volt soft pack charger, I will get to do more detailed tests of functionality and if the other New Bright 27mhz transmitter for my Bombardier will work for the InterActive Toy Concepts snowmobile. Thanks for letting me know the scale of snowmobile, are you sure it is 1/10? It looks huge sitting next to my 1/10 scale NB rockcrawler jeep rubicon!! It is longer then the crawler.

So you pulled all of the stock electronics from your InterActive and put them in the surplus parts drawer? Then you took your stock electronics from your "big crawler" project  and installed those electronics into the snowmobile? I am considering going HG on my 1/6 crawler as well, possibly I will follow in your footprints.  What kind of motors did you install into "big crawler"?
Also how much trimming did you have to do to snowmobile to get electronics 1/6 NB crawler to fit??
Excellent work as always Texx[:-], you are one of the master modders of this forum![8D]

I remove all the stock electronics POLARIS, and I install an electronic stock my Jeep 1 / 6

The electronic panel is proportional trottle, and power steering, automatically returns to center ..

So you still have stock motors in "big crawler"  with everything else electronic HG, you just used one of your extra two motors from your spare chassis?

How was it fitting all the NB 1/6 Jeep electronics into the snowmobile? Did you have to do a lot of cutting with the dremel on the chassis of the snowmobile? Great work once again, do you have any videos of it tearing through the snow?

Is the stock ESC on this snowmobile not proportional Texx?[] In that case I will be switching out the stock electronics almost for sure!

((( YES )))

#####################################

To install the electrical panel, I did not cut plastic .. It is held with duct tape.

For the 351 motor I removed a little plastic, and solidify the motor with hot glue stick. .

For the servo (the Jeep 1 / 6) I removed the plastic and glue the servo in place ..

YES .. The POLARIS / STOCK, is not proportional .. for this reason that I install the kit in my spare JEEP 1 / 6 newbright ..

DARK ..
The new electrical panel that I intall the Polaris is an electrical panel, which can run two motor 351 and the servo direction ( 6 wire)
Jeep 1/6 servo motor ..
2 wire for motor ............. 4 wire for return center automatically ........

..can automatically return to center (with the correct connectors), and it is proportional speed.

Here are some pics of the New Bright Bombardier 4 wheeler chassis with the body off. The shocks are just for show, not functionalAs chassis and axles are one solid piece..
Also have pics of stock gear set-up and stock motor. Tires are pretty nice for stock, I think rims are 2.2 inch like the 1/10 NB crawler. I will stay with stock tires until I replace motor and or ESC to get proportionate speed! Does anyone think if Icut axles off of chassis I could set-up a 4-link chassis to get functionality out of shocks for bumpy driving..

The Bombardier was made for speed but only having a 6.0v battery and one small motor it is not very fast.  It seems to have good potential especially if I could manage a mod with proportional speed and a larger motor, possibly with 9.6v of power as opposed to 6v. I have nice paddle tires and sand wedge tires for fronts already

Is your NB Land Rover 1/6 scale powered by 2 motors or one? Also is it a locked rear dif but not locked front?

On LAND ROVER, there are two motors

Both differential, were locked.

But for speed, the front differential, could be unlocked

It would be better[sm=thumbup.gif]
