Sort of Summit Build
I have a few parts laying around so I decided to build myself a new truck. I don't really know what to call it, it will have Revo spec diffs with a Summit transmission and a Titan 775 so it's not really a Summit or a Revo, kind of a half breed. I'll probably upgrade to the Summit bulkheads, diffs and shafts at some stage but I just want to do it cheaply for now and already had most of the Revo parts so I may as well use them.
What I have so far.
Parts I have ordered.
Summit chassis
Summit transmission
Shocks with long travel springs
Skid plates
Motor plate
Receiver box
TQi Transmitter and receiver with toggle switches for the Summit
Linkages for diff locks and gear selector
Should be fun to build, I can't wait to get all the parts.

RE: Sort of Summit Build
Probably a Proline Raptor body for now like the one below and maybe a Summit body later on when I get the diffs and stuff. Forgot to mention I'll be using the old EVX2 from my Summit since I went ahead and bought one with the LVA already.
Sure would be nice to have that chassis.

RE: Sort of Summit Build
Might try permanently locking the Revo diffs with some JB weld epoxy or whatever the equivalent is here in Aus. I picked up the idea from the Traxxas forums.

Yah i would too. But is there any point in not locking up the diffs? Cause it bugs me when it transfers power to the 1 tire. Is there a downfall to it?

Yep. Handling will be greatly decreased. You'll need a football field to turn it around with the increased steering radius. (Okay, won't be that bad, but it'll turn much wider) and high speeds will be a no-go.

RE: Sort of Summit Build
I locked the diffs last night, I couldn't find any JB weld epoxy at the hardware store so I used this stuff.
I used a bit of petrol to clean off the diff oil.
Then I started filling up the cup.
I got it looking a bit smoother but by this stage I had some of the epoxy on my hands so I didn't take anymore pics.
Ring gear back on. The white stuff is just grease not the epoxy.
It's almost been 24 hours and it feels like it has set nice and hard but time will tell if it holds up.

I'll be interested to see how that thing holds up.

RE: Sort of Summit Build
I used some plumbers tape to try and solve the hex hub wheel wobble issue. It seems to have helped a little but I won't really know until I get this thing together and do some driving. I'm trying to do this build on the cheap so a dollars worth of tape is worth a try.

RE: Sort of Summit Build
I got an order of parts today and realised I have everything I need to complete the build except for two measly little screws that hold the motor onto the mount. Oh well, guess I'll spend the two weeks waiting for the screws to slowly put everything together. More pics coming soon.

Hey if that locked diff won't hold up, go to sprint auto parts and get some Q Bond... It's a 2part... Kind of like very fine sand and super glue... This stuff is tuff as nails I usen it to block a EGR valve port on a Cleveland V8 .... And to repair a badly corroded V6 ecotec timing cover.... Apparently u can repair engine blocks and radiators too....

I'll test it out on a small pile of rocks I have in the back yard before I take it out for a bash, if it doesn't hold up I'll more than likely get summit diffs before I try locking up any more revo diffs.

If the chassis was white to begin with messing with other colours would be cool but I'm not sure how it would turn out mixing a colour with grey. How is yours holding up Pyro? Do scratches remove the colour? I'm also wondering if the dye would run if I got it wet, I asked my mum because she knows a thing or two about fabrics and stuff and she said that adding salt helps the dye hold to fabric but she thinks I am crazy for even trying to dye plastic.
