Default TRAXXAS TMAXX 2.5 is a P.O.S.

[sm=punching.gif][sm=drowning.gif]I just installed some hop-ups on my wifes TMaxx. Was holding off on buying another motor because lack of funds.... Well just put this thing back together and now can't start it. Talking to Traxxas tech support and guy seemed to know what he was doing. But motor is dead now. He said it either needs rebuilt or replaced. AAUUGGHH!!!!!

Now I am done venting....

Well traxxas must be silly to be clueless they're going to lose business one day.
How's your dominator going?
Does your wife like any other truck besides the tmaxx.....like savage or dom, MGT? If that truck is causing so much frustration and not cheap to maintain it might be better to get an alternative.
Dont let your fury take over you.....Cheers

As for hop-ups:

I already had black RPM A-Arms - so installed them.
Purple RPM skid plates, RPM purple shock towers and body mounts, purple RPM front bumper.
Aluminum bulk heads, braces, bumper mounts and rear bumper.

Looks good. The structure of the truck is beefed up. But now the motor went. [sm=bananahead.gif]

Was dumb founded. The guy on phone had me look at couple of things I over looked. But this is the motor I have ran the pi$$ out of - so it is time for a rebuild. It has lost almost ALL compression. So I will now order a new motor. I will not rebuild it. I need to wait till I get the money for my other TMaxx now. I have it on Ebay. It has barely been ran and still looks brand new. So when I get the money from selling it, I will get the motor.

Will get the Fantom 18.

Okay this happened to my maxx just after break in. I had a dead glow igniter that was my problem. DId u check the blue wire. If u have it i would suggest getting rid of it now. Change the glow plug. Run a Mccoy plug not traxxas. Also make sure ur needles are completely out of wack. LSN flush with bevel and 4 turns on the HSN. Flip the flywheel with ur hand and test ur compression but i think its just something stupid. One other thing do u use after run oil or WD-40>

I knew it was the engine before I called the guy. I have had 2 TMaxx's this one and another that hardly ran at all. This one my wife wrecks regularly. It just does not have enough compression. I thought that before even calling the guy.

My wife loves it - I would never of bought it if it were not her wanting something with an EZ start like that. You can buy the other one I have off Ebay if you want.

I bought an extra one off Ebay. Already have it. I paid more than it is worth because could not find it at LHS. And did not want to bother other mail order. But if you do a search on Ebay for "Hyper 7" you should find them - sometime I see them in $6 range. I paid 7 pounds - which is a lot in comparison to $6 - Right now I looked and do not see any. Only see the one that comes with the pro kit. Just keep going up there and look and you will find good deals.

OOPS!!! Replied to wrong link

It is on Ebay. Right now it is at 225 pounds. That was my reserve. It still has few more days to go. I am sure it will go around 280 - 300 pounds before it closes.[sm=bananahead.gif]

Oh, nevermind trying to buy.

You are in the U.K.

I don't want to pay for shipping.

Plus I still have to get my car.

You wore out a 2.5, so now you call it a POS?

I have been calling it a POS since she got the thing. That is why I am trying to make it harder for her to break. I am tired of replacing stock parts. My buggy I can take it and launch it 30++ ft into the air and nothing breaks. The TMaxx breaks frequently. You should not have to hop up a truck to make it more durable. It should come durable already.

I do have to admit that they break easily, but I could care less. I like the truck for its power and weight.

My friend just ordered a buggy on Sunday and it should be getting here Saturday.

It is his first one and I think that he is going to like it.

I was thinking about getting a buggy, but since I live in the city, I am going to buy a car.

Maybe get a buggy after I get a job and race it at the track.

It all depends on how u drive it,where u live, and if u know what the your doing.
ive owned a savage and my T-Maxx and savages are NOT what every one says they are.All it takes is one good thing about it and somehow everyone has an opinon(even the ones who havnt drivin it)My Maxx will out climb, out run, and out jump any truck around.I have to aggree they are not the MOST durable but once u start ur mods. its unstoppable.
im done.

Default RE: TRAXXAS TMAXX 2.5 is a P.O.S.

I have 2 TMaxx's - I have not said 1 thing about the Savage - this was not to be a Savage vs TMaxx crapathon - Since I do have 2 TMaxx's and can tell you from experience They are crap... If it were not for my wife liking how easy it is for her when she is out with the kids to get it out and use the EZ start and have reverse so she dont have to get etc etc - I would not own one at all.....

So if you intend in making this a Savage vs TMaxx crapathon - Go do it elsewhere. [sm=bananahead.gif][sm=RAINFRO.gif][sm=thumbup.gif]
