Hey guys (and maybe gals) I just picked up a t-maxx yesterday, its my first venture into nitro RC cars. Im new to this site, but it looked pretty promising so I signed up..

anyway, I was out breaking in my new t-maxx and on the fourth tank of fuel the receiver batteries decided to die on me and well.. I happened to be right nesr full throttle. busted a whole crapload of stuff off the front right of the truck, it looks like Ill need new springs and shocks (cant find one spring), a whole FR arm assembly, a new FR driveshaft, and the whole front piece, whats that called.. the bulkhead?

pretty dramatic crash for the first time, I just kind of expected it to happen _after_ I got the damn thing broken in.


So when was the first big crash for most of you guys? and also, how much should I expect to pay to get the parts to repair this.. []

I added a pic, sorry for the poor quality, im not having good luck with batteries tonight as the ones in my digicam are dieing too.. ugh.

also, shouldn't receiver batteries last longer than 3 and 1/4 tanks of gas!?!?

My t-maxx crashed the second day that I had it. I started it up, it took off, rocketed down the street, and went through a basement window! [X(] I only broke my transmission case, but I had to pay $75.00 to replace the window! [] My biggest break was when my friend got it run over by a car. It cost about $30.00 to fix it, but he payed for most of it.

ummmmmmm probably about a week or so after cause i had trouble keeping the engine started but now i got a bigbore, i did do a post about crashes and wat breakes ages ago and alot of people put their crashes in that and what broke. it was cool

i had a ntc3 i only wrecked that was significant once it was my first nitro btw. i had it for about 2 months... then i tried to top it out in a parking lot and the batteries for the servo flew out and it went straight into a curb full throttle..... 150$ worth of damage for me... you should have bought a failsafe... Venom makes a pretty good failsafe i think.. its only like 30$ and thats cheap comparing how much damage you did it will pay for itself if you get it... i know im going to as soon as i get my revo

Kill my Revo on the 2nd day, WOT into a brick my dumbass bro left infront of the ramp. Only broke an A Arm and I can still drive it around and jump it (which I still do lol)

Wait till me and some guy I met today get together and go out to some bmx jumps. He babys his Revo, I'll have to show him what its made of.

well, you guys sure have made me feel better.. I thought I was the only one. I will be buying whatever parts I need tomorrow to fix it back up and finish the break-in cycle. I will also DEFINETLY be buying a failsafe. no more of this dead battery death to the truck.

You know that failsafe operate through your battery right? If you suddenly and physically loose the truck's batteries, the failsafe wouldn't do any good. But I think that failsafe has a low battery activation built in so if your receiver's batteries run low, you are covered.

about 2 months after i got my t maxx i took it off a 10 foot retaining wall and right into my moms volvo. good thing i didnt know how to land it, it went into the side with all 4 wheels facing it so all i broke was the drive shaft. not even a scrach on the car. need less to say i now look before i jump.

your supposed to use fresh batteries, and not cheap dollar store batteries like i did! I used cheap rayovac batts i got from a dollar store. i thought "great deal!" until they died like after 2 tanks but, i got lucky i was able to grab it by the rear bumper before it took off all crazy. I use Duracell rechargable ni-mh batts now.

rebuilt the front end tonight, quite pricey on the parts because I bought the venom failsafe, and yes it has a low voltage cutout, as well as the Traxxas big bore shocks. Ill be using 1800mAh NiMH rechargables from now on too..

...*sigh* I guess diving head first into a hobby by rebuilding your car within the first week is pretty much cool huh.

at about three weeks i had 2 avoid gee curb or hit by a car u do the math second was wot under the neahbors parked car (needless 2 say they no longer park on the street get a throttle return spring u will be glad u did

LUCKY you got 3 tanks? When i just bought it I didnt really know 100% what i was doing and duriong break in i went 1/2 throttle right away into the wall, id sya 20 min of drivng. lol. 150 in hopups replaced it.

Well, about my A arm breaking, I just went WOT into another brick (jesus they are everywhere) I had just hit second then BANG shattered the rest of my already broken a arm.

well when i got my rustler i started it up, ran it like 2 tanks than the next day i started it up cracked the crankshaft in the engine. i was pissed( never use the 30% nitro thats y it happend)
