Default Hyper .21 ate my whole drive train in my T-Maxx

After putting on a hyper .21 8 port turbo in my t-maxx. It has litteraly stripped every gear in the truck and broke every drive line.[>:] Last week when i was bashing my maxx the engine ripped the plastic transmission right out of the truck. But i have a aluminum one in the mail.

Now I have a OTB aluminum 2 speed assembly, OTB steel imput shaft, robinson forward only conversion with steel output gear, and dynamite primary steel gear. Robinson steel ring and pinnions.

Yea, on my tmaxx .21 conversion i had all the gears strip out in the tranny, so I replaced them ALL including spur gear with aluminum/steel.

So those are good now, but the other day I was racing it, and snapped the rear drive shaft (plastic)... SO I think I am going to have to next buy metal shafts...

THE THING THAT SUCKS IS THAT NOW THE ENGINE MUST SPIN ALL THAT EXTRA WEIGHT OF THE ALL ALUMINUM drivetrain. its gunna rob a lot of that power.[]

Yeah, but there is no choice when the plastic gears won't hold up.

Going to a forwards only conversion probably evens it out taking that huge metal bit out that spins for the forwards and reverse switching. I striped plenty in mine i got aluminum/steel everything apart from 1st and second never had a problem with it at first then I kept messing upt he crap metal idler so eventual went with the forwards only conversion never looked back since. Found out you can get a hardend steel idler gear but i prefer it forwards only.
So now i have two GH aluminum output gears doing nothing lol cost me about $25 a peice lol.

I can't find any OTB stuff on their site. I've been looking for some OTB stuff for several months now and everyone keeps telling me they are out of business and they are no longer available. Are you sure you got it from renegade?

Well, I know my .21 converted tmaxx with metal gears is faster than my two of my friends newer 2.5 tmaxx's, well tuned... So if I am loosing speed because of the metal gears, I guess its not a big deal to me, I beat normal tmaxx's...

you dont lose speed because of you meal gears. small blocks rev higher thus more top end.

Thats the good thing about bigblocks they have so much power you can change the gearing to give it a very fast top speed and still be able to accelerate faster than a small block.

That's for sure!!!!!!!! I put a .21 in my first Maxx after maybe 3 months of running the TRX Pro .15. I had plenty of problems with the tranny gears until I put in the UE Super 4 and 6 FOC. Now it's nothing but ripping and gripping! No baby engines for me! lol J/K SB users.

The XTM CVD's are junk. The best CVD's out there other then UE's are the MIP Shiny CVD's. I have not snaped a pin yet running the Fantom .27.

Ya i heard the MIP ones were sweet, but i only see the weak link on the XTM ones to be the crappy pins, if only they had hardend steel pins in the first place they would be fine.

i forgot to mention that i had the same thing happen to me , i got the xtm .21 conversion, a hyper .21 8-port, and stripped every gear in my tranny. hardcore racing made a whole complete set of metal gears(retaining reverse) for about 90 bucks. i decided to buy a savage instead. traxxas builds their trannys light.

im planning on getting the dynamite .21 conversion with no engine. i have no experiences with engine this big so i dotn know how much power it will really put out but i do know my drivetrain will be gone but the dynamite converison will fix that. but my transmission on the other hand i know for a fact will be full of smoothe circular discs instead of gears. what do you suggest for transmission upgrades and where to get them

Go straight for the fowards only conversion from Robinson Racing, forget about reverse it needs to go trust me. Also go for a Hardend steel super gear with hardend steel clutch bell and a harden steel topshaft. All these are available from Robinson Racing. As for the difs i havn't had a problem with my stock ones with my Mach .26, so maybe you will be lucky like me on that so i'd leave stock ones and see if they do mess up go for a aluminum cup with stock parts unless the cup wasn't the problem then change the dif gears with robinson racing ones.

Didn't make actual CVD's just the pins for them, The pins that come with the XTM are so crap, I snaped about 4 of them before i though "Forget buying a XTM CVD rebuild kits all the time for extortionate amounts of money " Made my own by cutting and shaving down some A Arm pins they are strong as you like compared to the XTM pins + you can make more than 1 pin from a single a arm pin
