Default engine start probs

hey guys i have a stock 2.5 trx and when i try and start it with the easy starter. I hear this weird sound and the electric motor does not turn over the 2.5 completely it sounds almost like it is slipping. so when it catches the engine trys to start but it needs that extra spin . i dont know whats wrong i am thinking that maybe my engine is gummed up and the starter does not have enoung power to get it goin. i also havent used the engine in a while and i think i might have forgotten to put after run.

all help is greatly appreciated

thanx.

you can take it off and clean it out. It is usually just build up of fuel. Take off the easy start motor and the plate itself. There is a nut that slides over the shaft coming out of the motor. That is the one-way bearing. If you spin it one way it should spin freely, the other way should lock up and turn the motor over. Just slide that off and clean it, put it back on and check to see if it is working properly. Then reassemble.
