Easy Off oven cleaner. That's what I used! it works... REALLY good... that mixed with a course scratch pad (brillo) ... works wonders... I used an old toothbrush. If you use the Easy Off, don't let it sit for too long on the aluminum... it will screw it up.

Depends on how well the part was annodized... Some times the annodizing comes right off, other times it takes a few applications. Just do it in a well ventilated area and use gloves! It will do some nasty stuff to your hands!

ty for posting my link Gotbling?

It shouldn't be to hard guys don't be scared to try it. Its very easy to do. I also had to let the adnodizing sit awhile. Make sure you use gloves. The chemicals in the Oven Cleaner burns you skin and it isn't fun. Please refer to that link if you have any questions. Or PM me.
Thanks guys.

After pulling the anodizing off, I couldn't polish it... (got a dremel with polishing stuff) ... do I just have to try a little harder?

Did you pic up the Mother's polish? I couldn't get it to buff out either until I purchase a can of the polish. The polish works wonders.

that seems to be my issue... I just used the "polish" that came with the Dremel... I'll attempt that... of course, I found the article about taking anodizing off AFTER I spent 3 hours and 4 sanding wheels on my chassis! Then, I decided to finish with the easy off... and it was SIMPLE! Oh well, I had fun with my brand new Dremel. (Got it for christmas...)

*EDIT* I have a variable speed Dremel... what's the best speed for polishing? I saw somewhere like 10k RPM, it just doesn't seem that fast.... is that right? Mine will do up to 35K RPM...

sounds good. If you have anymore question just ask.

--edit--

A resonable speed. I kinda tried every speed and as long as I was flicking the polish all over my self I stayed with that speed :P
