Ok and to also add to this where does the Epic .18 stack up. Ive been outa nitro for the past year and dont know which is better anymore. It used to always be the epic that was awsome for a Tmaxx

In all fairness too Italy, My Italian Stallion{Sirio 18} Has more bottom end than a sir mix alot music video. However in an hour long main, dont count on that Sirio over an O.S. Its not wise

i ran a sirio .18 on my pro-hobby tmaxx, it was very nice, had good power through out the power band.

i run a o.s. tm on my revo now, it has crazy bottom end and good power through out the power band.

with that said, i think that the o.s. is more bang for your buck.

the o.s. is unreal at holding a tune, and the rebuild parts are way cheaper.

the sirio ran hotter, and was a little tempermental when cold.

i cant make a complete comparison, because the revo is a completely different animal than the t-maxx.

but, i suspect that if you ran a sirio t-maxx, against a o.s. t-maxx, that the o.s. would prevail in racing conditions.

I reckon the o.s will beat it all round but not by much.

now now, My friend and I are really close competitors, he has the TZ I have the Sirio, and we share nearly all our race secrets, we are good friends, soo we are just wipping everyone else. Want a little secret, port & polish the Sirio, if u have the 5 port turbo, then put a paris turbo pipe, and you have a powerhouse, thatsa little secret very few people know, and poeple ask me everyday how I got sir mix alot bottom end, and everyone knows the other secrets, rubber sealer at the base of the carb, and shortening the header, removing the shimes, tuning properly, and a biggie loose all the wieght in a drive train!

All that may be true, but the os doesnt need major money and modifications to be a powerhouse. Im not dissing your engine or truck or flaming im just saying.

ohhh, I completely forgot to add, I personally love the O.S. {TZ} its a spectacular engine, it has its own tips and tricks. But the things they were supposed to be, was cheap mods, and while the os doesn't need it, depending on the amount of ports your sirio was, and I truly think that both engines are about dead equal, at least for t-maxxes. I would definitely support anyone who would buy the O.S. Same goes for the Sirio. I'm just saying that you can take both engines to the next level without compromising money, or reliability, but when you talk about the big "R" than you can like I said the Sirio isn't to bad for being Italian, but thats the way it works!

my sirio was an 8 port, i am up on all the tips and tricks.

dont misunderstand me, it was truly an awsome engine. but, it did require a bigger heat sink, and did not hold a tune as my o.s.

i do know that it was more impressive on the top end, but for the most part, most tracks front straights are less than 150 feet.

i also believe that the tm has slightly better bottom end than the tz.

i do wish that i hadnt let my sirio go, so i could compare the two in a revo.

even if the sirio had an edge on the o.s., i would still have to go with the o.s. now simply because the parts are cheaper, and racers love cheap reliable power.

i believe the tz was designed for touring cars, the tm was designed for monsters, which explains the better bottom end.

Well I found a Sirio 18 on the bay, I went ahead and bought it but it says it is a turbo and comes with a turbo plug. Being new to the hobby, what is the difference between a standard plug and turbo plug?

a turbo plug is like a regulair, but at the end it goes into a cone like shape, call it a male, and then the turbo head has the female end, which accepts the plug, and basically makes a tighter fit, and higher compression, its about an 10 % increase in power

I got my sirio 18 and Im pretty impressed with it so far. It runs alot better than the 2.5 for sure. Im still tinkering with the tuning trying to find the "sir-mix-alot" bottom end.

Having run both the 8 port Sirio and the OS 18 CVR in a T Maxx, forget the Sirio, it can't hold a candle to the CVR. Not to mention the fact that Sirio piston and sleeve sets are like hen's teeth. I know 3 people that would run the Sirios they own if they could locate a piston and sleeve to rebuild them with.

Not make this into a new topic, but what clutch bells are you guys running with the sirio?

I traded some stuff for one and puit it in my tmaxx, it screams on top end, but I was hoping to get more out of the low end. I changed to an 18t bell, I like the take off and it seems to be the only way I can get the front wheels up off the ground.

Buy the way i do not race, if I did the 20 would be great. I'm looking to bash with it.

Thanks!

I've been using the stock clutch bell, a three shoe clutch, and just started adjusting the low end.

Hey spugh,

That should be the 20t then, are you getting the wheels off the ground with that?
