Default Switching Fuels

Got a definitive answer on this sketchy subject. It is FINE to switch fuels. I talked to a local hobby shop owner who has been in town here for over 50 years. Guy knows his ****. He has a savage that he started break-in with traxxas top fuel 20%. Then switched to O donnell 30%. I switched from Trinity Monster Mix 20% to odonnell 30% today.

I switch fuels but not really often sometimes my lhs runs out of 15 % thats whay i run i usually then go to 20 or 10. I have not noticed any problems but its really personal beliefs i dont really think it is that bad for it therefore i do it but i understand why people strongly dislike changing fuels when they have nice expensive engines that they are not willing ot take a chance with.

I live in australia i havent seen any of those big brand fuels at my lhs. I use australian made pro glow that stuff is great and does the job. Also fuel price is insane our fuel is 15 dollars a litre and 30 dollars for 2 litres.

So 30% runs fine?? I thought that the most you should run is 20%? I want to get more power but i dont want my junk to burn up. Im still running the stock 2.5r and i have almost a gallon of trinity 20% through it.

ive heard that using 30% in your small block isnt good i know that it will run cooler but it produces more explosionso dont you have to rebuild your engine more often

The higher the percent the quicker your motor will deteriorate. However, general maintenance should make sure that you get the most out of your motor. WadeC if you have ever listened to anyone on here, listen to me. Switch to odonnell's 30%. The performance increase is pure insanity.

Yep, I recommend odonnell because of the simple fact that NOTHING burns as clean as this stuff. You will literally have to re-think tuning if you go by smoke. I have verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry little smoke coming out of my pipe and I am still running quite rich.

yeah i got some odonnel 30% and broke my revo in today on my revo, the stuff makes a whole hell of a difference. i raced my friends revo (running on traxxas 20%) and SMOKED him in a drag. I pulled a whellie, and he had no chance.
amazing

I just recently switched from traxxas 20% to traxxas 33%. All i needed to do was to richen the HSN 1 full turn. I did this on both my Revo and my Jato. I did noticed a good improvement in power. Lets just say on my Jato on WOT my rear tires balloon fully.

Default RE: Switching Fuels

I just got my Revo used that the previous owner broke in with an unknown type fuel. I usually run blue thunder 30% in my cars. I had just bought some odonnel 20% for my boat so I figured I would use it for my Revo and to break in another motor for my onroad. After running, I have a LOT of orange looking oil drainage from the tailpipe. This is making a mess that I never encountered with Blue Thunder. I leave a paper towel under the tailpipe and come back with a mess. I am running the things rich because the on road is being broke in and I am unsure of the Revo break in. Will this quit after break in? Maybe I am running too rich Because I am looking for smoke? I was going to switch back to Blue thunder but have heard such good things about Odonnel.

now heres a real questi0n for ya. is it alright to switch from a higher percentage to a lower percentage? ive heard its not. also, what coloe is odonnell? this sounds stupid i know, but i used to run trinity MH and i dont want to any more because it is purple and it looks stupid on my tmaxx. i want to swwitch to traxxas because its blue, and i have a hunch the odonells is yellow, which would be ok.

Dude, higher nitro content will not blow up your engine. I've run rich's brew 40% for a year.

My LHS told me you can't. You can only go higher and not lower.
