Default Quick ??...Which Way Should Engine Shaft Turn?

Sorry to sound so newbian, but I'm getting my engine back today & I've forgotten which way the crankshaft should spin, so I'm understandalby reluctant about reinstalling the one-way.

Looking straight-on at the FRONT of the engine, should the shaft/flywheel spin counter-clockwise or clockwise when running??

Thanks!

Dean

The letters on the OWB should face the engine. and then your looking at it from the front( im guessing thats the side with the carb and flywheel) it should turn counter-clockwise.

what he said ^^^

Just face the lettered side of the OWB towards the engine and it will be installed correctly.

it will run backwards too. I do it all the time for fun. runs like crap tho. snowmobiles have spark so when you hit rer(sonthin electronic reverse) it shuts the engine off for a seccont then starts back up spinning backwards, trully amazing if you ask me, that it can start moving in the opposete direction with no starter moter. well any way the spark is changed electronicly to make it spark at a diffrent time.

unlike a nitro where it depends sololy on port timing, where a snomobile has reeds. or pistion port design.

any ways try it backwards for fun, just make shure it wont hurt your clutch at all.

They will run backwards. On plane engines where the porting is milder, they will run almost as good either direction. Have started a taxi in reverse more then once until I got the electric starter.
