cooling holes in the body, suspention on lowest setting, cut, trim as much off some parts
as posible (don't take too much off), take off as many parts as posible, racing tires = proline bowties, hpi dirt bonz, ect., stiffer tire foams, put a sleve arond the opening of fule tank (keeps fule from going every were when fast refuling), a litle bit better motor would be good, trying to think of more...
For rules go to the track you're racing at and ask.
hope that helps [sm=bananahead.gif]

you'll want to use aluminum bulkheads and chassis braces. a strong and fast servo is a must w/ 1200 Mah Rx pack, and if you go bigger motor plan on rebuilding diffs and trans. i raced mine for 2 years before getting a revo

They say a picture is worth a thousand words so here's three thousand words to ponder. For MT class rules, here's a link to the RC Pro Series rule book. Scroll down to the monster truck rules section and check it out. RCP rules are pretty much the standard for MT racing, but it won't hurt to check with your local track to be sure.

FHM101 did you cut your chassis, in the rear by the stock gas tank. i have my gas tank at the stock battery area and i have the empty space at the stock gas tank area... i didn't know what to do with the empty space...so i put in a second tank.. should i just cut it out?

I JUST CONVERTES MY TMAXX FOR RACING(NO PICTURES YET)
THE 2.5R DOES VERY WELL ON SHORT TRACKS.
YOU'LL NEED:
PIPE
COOLING HEAD
I USE TRAXXAS RESPONSE TIRES ON REVO RIMS

fhm what chassis is that it looks wicked, did you cut a lot out of it? mounting the throttle servo in the rear will hard, i'm using a rotary carb(AE .15 engine)

The chassis is from Pro Hobby Racing. Using a rotory carb you pretty much have to use the stock throttle mount location, but you could put your receiver pack in that spot. The idea is to place components so as to better balance the truck.

gotcha, thanks thats what i tried, put gas tank where the stock battery goes, rx battery on the front shock tower. how are the proline 40 series wheels and the bow ties? do they improve on handling since they are wider? or are they same as the maxx series velocities.

I've never cared much for the 40 series only because I've always done well with the regular bowties and couldn't see changing something that worked so well. Also, the 40 series velocity wheels with the 14 mm drive hex are very prone to breaking out arouns the hex area and/or warping so the wheel wobbles like crazy. If you plan to use 40 series tires with 14 mm drives it's a good idea to use the Velocity 6 wheels, or switch to 23 mm drives and use the velocity or wabash wheels.
