Tmaxx 2.5/ trans not working
Our 2.5 Tmaxx starts up fine but will not go into forward or reverse The spur gear moves freely and the throttle servo is moving its full travel.
It has about 4-5 gallons of fuel thru it, so it has a few battle scars, Wondering if I can send the tranny into traxx for repair or does anyone have any suggestions for the fix? It has had problems in the past engaging into forward or reverse.
Thanks
David

you will probably have to take a look inside your tranny because that's most likely where your issue is.if you have the t-maxx manual with the exploded views look at the tranny and look for part #4995 its the pin that holds your primary gears for forward and reverse together if that breaks you won't go any where and get a foc makes putting your tranny back together a snap.

the foc eliminates the extra weight of having reverse and you do gain speed plus your tranny will be stronger, haven't had any problems since i put it in.

Disasembled the trans and did not see any teeth mising on any gears. Reinstalled it back and still no go in forward or reverse, the servo is moving to the stops. The spur gear is spinning with the engine. I pick up the truck and no movement.
I did not check for that #4995 pin inside the trans, maybe I missed it. Any more suggestions?
Thanks David M

Unless your slipper is really loose, it sounds like it is probably that steel pin that holds the primary gears to the shaft. You won't see anything different until you unscrew it. It usually shears off right at the end of the threads and so the shaft just spins inside the primary gears. It happened to my T-MAXX just after break-in. Everything else worked, but the transmission would not engage. Take the transmission apart again and look at the primary gears carefully. It is at the end of the shaft and should go all the way through the gear. If you have the parts list, it is part number 4995. It is really an easy thing to fix, so I wouldn't bother sending it in. Just keep track of where everything goes and you'll have it fixed in no time. The part number includes the two primary gears and it's only like $6.00. I would think you could also cut a piece of steel push-rod and glue it in for a temporary fix until you can order the part. Hope this helps.

I checked the #4995 pin and it is intact, the spur gear is on tight and backed off 1/4.
Could the problem be the clutch on the engine shaft?
