revo engine choices
i have a revo 2.5r, and i just ordered the 3.3, however I've decided to use that in my jato, and was wondering what motors you guys might recommend for the revo, I'm looking for as much power i can safely get without destroying the drive-train, i would be grateful for any insight you could offer.

RE: revo engine choices
I would look into going with a Picco .28,It may be a .26 but I read good things about them.

RE: revo engine choices
i got the Picco 21s, nice motors.. Kliff has a Picco 26maxx and a OS18TM. he can give you a better comparision, but i know both, tuned correctly with the right pipe, are damn close to each other, i just put together a stocker Maxx and dropped in one of hte 21s, once tuned i could barely keep the tires on the ground, ON NEW GRASS. just planed last year so its still young and juicy. so loosign alot of traction... going to finish the bridge on the track tomorrow, and give the new bridge and stocker a run.. neighbor has the OS18TM, killer engine. runs well. he cooked it a few times so its waiting on parts to rebuild it.

Not the RB's I've run...323 or 523, ain't been a match for the Dark Side yet..... OS 18TM, or Picco 26Max......great choices, either one....as for the rest...go here, check out the set-ups, reports and number of supporters, judge for yourself, the number of "hits" will give you a fairly accurate idea of how popular each engine is...

OS 18TM
Picco 26Max
Mach 26
RB 323
Traxxas 3.3
They're all there.

RE: revo engine choices
I don't have one but I would still like to recommend the picco .26 maxx. On towerhobbies.com with their current discount you can buy that engine new plus the mount and a pipe made just for that engine size which has been tested and proven to be insanely good. All this for $200. Hmm, .18 or .26 and I used to think and tell myself that I would never need anything bigger than a .18 but for this good of a deal there is no reason not get it. Wish I had some extra cash so I could get one.

RE: revo engine choices
I have personally had the Picco 26 Maxx and the Sirio 23 in my Revo and now I'm running a TM18.
The TM18 wins hands down. Awesome power, superb quality, easy tuning, and never EVER flames out. Plus you keep your Revo nice and light.
The Sirio was a close second to the TM, but it didnt make the low end torque that the TM will, and parts are very difficult to come by
The Picco 26 Maxx was a strong engine but a pain in my ***. Picco engines are notorious for bearing leaks, and sure enough mine had an air leak on the front crank bearing right out of the box. Even after fixing that.... it was tricky to keep in tune, and was big and heavy enough to throw the balance of my truck off a bit. Again... parts can be difficult to come by for Picco engines.
Nobody can match O.S.'s quality in their engines, parts are easy to get, and they are usually the easiest to keep in tune.
