RE: What Single Steering Servo Do Yous Use
I use the Hitec MG5645 because it's dustproof/waterproof with 168oz of torque so my Revo run's rain /snow/dirt/mud & it was $50 @ Tower Hobbies.

It has a coreless motor, metal gears, and a good balance of speed and torque. For $65-70 dollars it's a pretty nice middle of the road servo.
If you are just going to go by the listed torque/speed, then picking a servo is easy. Narrow it down to all of them that have the required torque for the job and that fit your price range, and then pick the one with the fastest sweep time.

RE: What Single Steering Servo Do Yous Use
I bought a HItec HSR-5995tg for $109 (retails for $179) and i love it. It has 333in/oz of torque at 6v and is fast at .15sec @60 degrees. It has a full 180 turning radius so it's nice for modded steering setups. I posted this on another thread, but it's relevant here too.

I use a hs5995tg I don't care what anyone says. This is the best servo money can buy if you have a good radio to go with it (nomadio).

Prior to finding the 5995 robot servo, I used the HS5645 and that too is a great servo. But after feeling the handling improvement of the 5995, I was absolutely hooked. All I want to do now is find a way to get 7.2V into that servo without toasting my other electronics. I want the 416oz-in so I can convert my Savage into 4wheel steering.

RE: What Single Steering Servo Do Yous Use
Because the HS-5995tg has 180 degrees rotation, you need to be able to adjust the endpoints or you will rip your steering components apart due to the super high torque. You need a radio like the Sensor or something similar as mr. mugen said that will allow you to adjust the servo throw. I use the Sensor so I know it works great for this, but i'm not familiar with the other radios on the market so i don't know which others do this.

I would not get it if you don't have a integraded TX. You need to dial back the end points so you don't rip the truck apart when you turn.

You will need a 3 channel radio if you want reverse. The srx is one of my favorites for under $100. It has more features than some more expensive models. It even has exponentials

RE: What Single Steering Servo Do Yous Use
Supposedly you lose signal resolution when you lower your EPA settings, and the 5995 with it's 180 degree rotation requires you to lower it quite a bit. Get the Hitec 5955 instead. It boasts the same specs as the 5995 but it has the proper amount of sweep for this application.
An alternative to Hitecs somewhat questionable quality is the JR DZ9000T. It is the same price as the Hitec 5955, has the same sweep time (.15s@6v), and 320oz of torque. If you can tell the difference between 320oz and 333oz in operation then the Hitec has something to brag about. Otherwise, I would get the JR.
SAVAGEJIM, the Spektrum can handle 9v. Find a good way to regulate the voltage to the throttle servo and you're set for 7.2v

I use a Spektrum High Torque on my T-maxx...

The Spektrum "high torque" is a JR 590. It has 85oz of torque at 6v and is comparable to most RTR steering servos that come in MTs, although better quality. The LST trucks actually come with TWO JR 590s for steering.

RE: What Single Steering Servo Do Yous Use
Thanks Chronic. I have the older spectrum receiver though. I know the 9V cap is okay for the newer Spektrum receivers. I tried to find the specs for the older Spektrum receivers but I could'nt find their max voltage spec. I'm not at home and my Spektrum manual is at my home, I wish I could remember the ampherage specs. My manual however does not list the votage specs. The only voltage capability mentioned throughout the manual was 6V. I'm gonna hit the web again when I get home (I have high speed at home, I'm on POS dial-up right now) and I'm gonna try to see if I can find some more documentation for the older Spektrum receivers. While I'm at it, I'm also gonna look up the specs for the ollowing Hitec servos I have on my Savage to see if they too can take 7.2V: 5645, 5475, and 5925. If these guys can take 7.2V, then I gues I can dispense with the voltage regulator. Thanks for the tip though.
