Yup.. tuned it... the slipper also seems ok... just wondering how they should accelerate in general?

if you ran it for the first time today? doesn that mean your still running it rich and breaking it in.

most engines wake up at around the gallon mark,
Its not only nova's and RB"s.

My mach .28 that cost $100 really picked up at about the 3-4 litre mark..

Tune your low speed needle for more accelartion

If you're not impressed with the acceleration of the T-Maxx 2.5 then there's something wrong. Mine will flip over backwards from a standstill if I want it to.
First thing to check is your slipper clutch. I run mine all the way tght then back it off 1/4 - 1/2 turn.
The next thing to do is tune the engine. Tuning is an art and can be frustrating so take your time and learn how to do it right.
Here's a link to Traxas' instructions on tuning.

And here are a couple of videos that are really helpful. They're done on a Savage 25 but almost all nitro engines tune the same.

Good luck

i just bought a second hand tmxx 2.5 without a motor and dropped my 2.5R motor in there, that thing moves. it picks up quickly and even the front tires lift off the ground a bit... shifts quickly into 2nd too and still screams... wish there was a 3rd gear tranny for it...
i think something may be wrong with your motor... or the tunning is out a bit. was the motor in bad shape as well?

A stock t-maxx 2.5 does have the capibility to land on its roof from a stand still. Sounds like you need to lean out your low speed needle, unless you are still breaking it in.

Well if it's a second hand engine then that engine might be bad. You might have to get a new P/S combo for it or a new engine completely. But thats just a though.

My tmaxx 2.5 with the three three in it could backflip all the way and land on its wheels again. Lol. The body we had on it gave us the capability to do so.
