who loves traxxas engines
well it seems we have a thread where everyone is dissing the trx engine so i thought i would start one for all the people who love it
ok i have never had a problem with the trx engine yet (thats 1 t maxx 2.5, 1 3.3 in a revo and 1 3.3 in a t maxx)
and my brother has a maxx 3.3 as well
currently i am running the resonator on my 3.3 and a ms airfilter and that just pushs the trx to its limits and i love it the thing wont stop doing wheelies and it is rapid.
and the trx 3.3 is £100 with the trade in (or £80-£100 off ebay for a new one with out trade in)
the os .18tm is £160
the rb concepts £200
good engine for the price i do admit that it can be a bugger to tune sometimes and it is a more delicate engine i think a lot of people have problems because they dont seem to relise how delicate these things are and i also think most trx engines are owned by new to the hobby people which is why they make more mistakes.
the resonator and the ms filter makes my trx run so lean that its about 6 1/2 turns from closed to keep it supplied with fuel (which just means more fuel to the engine which means faster performance also more oil gets to the engine
lets try and keep this thread for the people who love traxxas trx engines and everyone else can dis the trx in the official trx engine thread like there doing lol

I like my TRX 3.3. The thing is that it's kind of a "moody" engine. Some days it's a rocket, some days it's a turtle. Some times it just wheelies just like that, some times it simply wont!
I don't care any more though. I just got an O.S. 21TM off eBay. So it's all over for me

The 2.5 in my brothers Jato is a dream to tune! It only needs minor adjustments to get it running at it's peak![8D] I have had a 2.5 in my Revo but, it did not have enough power for me. It did run great but, it just did not do it for me. I had a few TRX .15 Pros in my first Maxx and 2 Stampedes and they were at times a bit hard to get tuned right plus they ran hot but, I did get 11 gallons out of one of them! I can't complain to much.

I havent had a problem yet and Ive gone through a .15 in first t-maxx, a 2.5 T-maxx that got upgraded to a 3.3 now I have a revo 3.3 and its perfect. Sure sometimes tuning tests my patients but but if it was super simple it wouldnt be nitro. Its not plug and play like an electric. But to sum it up, havent had a problem with the trx engines yet

I had some tuning issues when the temps changed from the 40s to the 80s, but thats not really an issue because its what you have to do. I have just hit the gallon mark and I can't complain. I love the engine and the truck.

RE: who loves traxxas engines
well from all these good points about the trx engines, it does seem to me that alot of problems seem to be from the new to the hobbie people making mistakes or just that some people just dont know how to look after there engine then they blame the engine when it breaks.
well my trx 3.3 is the heart of my baby (t maxx)
and if i could i would breast feed it nitro from my man boobs lol
now we have heard good points about the trx engines from people who know how to look after them.
lets here some of the bad points and see if we can get a interesting debate going

I live in the Dalas area with alot of humidity. I have to tune constantly. These engines dont like humid weather as far as I have noticed. More tuning than riding on really bad days.

the red engine is from a head gasket leak. or you could of had a small hole in your fuel line before it went into the carb and it was spitting all overyour hot engine which made it stick to the engine like a nasty goup that doesnt come off easy at all.

the 2.5 in my rustler was amazing... I never had to tune it and it made good power for a .15. the 3.3 in my revo was pretty good until it blew a conrod at the one-gallon mark, at which point I switched to picco and haven't looked back since.

I'll bet that if you give a TRX engine to a talented tuner who opens it up and seals it out from factory, i'm sure it would work just fine. It's people like me who have it, it is their first engine and they messed SOEMTHING up on it, see like mine won't idle and it's a ho to tune. But i'll get an OS and be very careful with it, and it will work just fine and dandy.
