ok as all of you probably know my picco .26 maxx has been a peace of poo leaky front bearing air leeks wont idle and all that other stuff today i addresed the issue of the front bearing .i wanted to replace with my new bocca one so i take off the back plate to find what seems to be a peice of dirt stuck to the side of the crank case but to my amazement it is a hole that goes 4 mm deep in to to the crANK CASE I WAS LIKE OMG [:@][:@][:@][:@] IS THIS MENT TO BE HERE OR IS IT another example of BAD ENGINE the pics speek for them sellf and yes there is loas of aro in there i squesed 2 hard lol tell me what you think my mum thinks im making this up so explaine why it is not ment to be there

I don't know if it is meant to be there or not, but a small hole in that location shouldnt affect the engines normal function at all, and certainly wouldn't explain the problems you have had.

i thort that as well but it goes right through to the outside of the engine were there is a small crack

Maybe you can cover up the hole with high-temp RTV Sealant?

Call ofna about the hole and mention the bearing so they replace them

i live in the uk so that is not as easy as it sounds lol do you think i should call the shop i bought it from

Woops sorry for the mis-info. I didn't realize the hole went the whole way through the block, nor did I realize it was cracked. That will certainly cause problems and the block should be replaced. If you can't deal with sending it in for a replacment then you could try some JB Weld. If you clean it up real good and JB Weld the hole, it will probably hold well and seal up the leak for you. But personally, I would return that engine to the manufacturer, that is a classic manufacturing defect and it should be replaced without hassle.

holy cow! ive seen someone else on the traxxas forums and his con rod carved a massive groove through the crankcase.ill try to give you the pics if i can find them.

ok i called ofna told them the problem and they replied "sorry mam we do not cover warenty issues out side the usa is that ok" omg is she toTALY THICK NO THATS NOT OK THERE IS A HOLE IN MY NEW ENGINE and i am male not female lol

Try the JB Weld, I bet it works if you remove the anodizing from around the crack, clean it well and let it set up for the full 24 hour cure time.

ok phone them back up they HAVE to exchage the engine its the trade laws, also contact the shop you bought it from they may give you a new one and send that faulty one back to ofna

also always record your telephone conversations then if you get a thick person who is bs you then you can contact the head office and complain


also if the shop does not help you then contact trading standards they can help you out, also good idea to get your brief to send them a letter

ok i have spoken to a lhs not the one i bought the engine from he looked at it and said itsdueto bad workmanship a buuble in the metal if it werehis shop he would give me anew 1 straight a way i will call the shop i bought it from in the morning see what they say

just called the shop i bought the engine from they said they looked at the pictures and saw nothing wrong so i gave them a printscreen from paint with the hole circled in red saying here it is lol he said now i see i will get the tecnical support team to look ath the photos and see what we are going to do
