The sad thing is, it will still break. And then it just costs more to fix. I'll stay close to stock on my trucks, thank you very much.
Besides, that $1400 you spent on extra parts would have bought like three different, brand new trucks which, IMHO, would have been a lot more fun.
But to each their own, enjoy what ya got.

I don't know if he did that bad. The allu skids are a waste, but the alu bulks, RR parts, RPM parts, picco, ths pipe, titanium pins are all good upgrades for a maxx.

Also, if he throws RPM skids over the aluminum ones in the front and rear, they may actually last through a little hard bashing.

IMHO, there is some wasted money there: alu bumpers and skids, but most of those upgrades are good ones and money well spent. I would never jump on them all at once like that, as I like to beat it, repair/upgrade what breaks, wash rinse and repeat but to each his own.

dude... thats amazing... now you can turn around and sell it for.... the same price you paid for the truck... not sure what the big deal is about 1800... i have over 2000 into mine... and if i were to do it again i would have saved that money and put it toward something worth spending it on... some day you might feel the same way...
i guess it could be money spent on something worse, i mean 1800 would buy quite a bit of drugs but you are smart enough to not do them so i give u props...

I've got $2600 in my T-MAXX, not counting 200 hours of build time! one upgrade leads to another and another and so on!!!

First, I wasn't dissing his truck or his choice. It's his money to spend as he wants. All I said was that even with spending lots of money the truck will still break and that, since the parts that will break are more expensive, it will cost more to fix and that I would have spent the money differently. Just because I would (and have) chosen to spend my cash differently just means I have different priorities. Believe me, with 4 nitro MT's, 2 electric buggies, 1 nitro street car, 2 nitro boats, 1 electric boat, 2 electric planes and 2 electric helis I've got way more than $1800 in RC's. If some would rather spend $1500, $1800, $2500, $3000 or whatever hopping up a truck, have at it. It's just not my choice, I'd rather have a bunch of different things to play with rather than one really blinged out toy, that's all.

200 hours of build time isn't that hard to believe. I have at least that in mine, but it is over the course of years and includes time fabricating my own parts for items like 3 point roll bar, and custom solid fuel rocket system. At this point the only original t-maxx parts on my maxx are the chassis plate, axles, half shafts, axle carriers and diffs. Once you dive into a t-maxx and hit the point of no return you can sink tons of time and money into them pretty easily.

my tmaxx has about 1300-1400 into also...i wouldnt do it again....just buy a lst2 then you can keep the truck pretty much stock and it blows the tmaxx away...i love to drive my tmaxx but the lst2 is just a better truck so driving it is so much more fun

What's the fun in having stock trucks? Part of the hobby (to me at least) is having fun and being able TO upgrade. Plus, generally when you upgrade parts your truck becomes more durable, unlike stock trucks...so to me it's like having 3 broken trucks (which you have to pay to fix), or one awesome working durable truck...I'd go w/ the one (or two) good one(s), but that's just me...

thats when being smart with your money comes into play!! i have one of those that probably would of cost me in the excess of $2000 but, i spent less than $1000. wouldnt have it any other way!! yes i do enjoy driving it til the wheels fall off then fixing it but, at the same time some days i want to just drive and not worry about something breaking. then at the same time i took most of the spare parts and for about $35 on ebay i built another truck. its kinda set up like a sport maxx but i call it my Scrap Maxx.

Try being into RC in the UK then, that would have cost you about $2500 instead

I would have took that money and used in over a 3 year span like I did. Do a little more research on things rather than diving in all at once. I remember taking about a week of research to buy just one part such as the bulks, that way you learn as well.

Yep, 200 hours. I didn't just sit down and change all the parts at once (unfortunately). Add aluminum here, take the front apart, put it back together. Add another part, you may have to take everything apart again. It adds up in a hurry, just like the cost. I agree that it's not bragging or about praise or anything like that, just stating how pricey things can add up to be. You don't really notice the cumulative total until you sit down and put it on paper. Of course you do know that it's expensive, but your mind always downplays the cost. It doesn't really hit you until you put it down on paper. Just a thought about the mind's ability to hide the truth about things! :-)
