electrical problem?
On my tmaxx 3.3, I took off the cases from both the receiver box and the battery box and RIT dyed them black, along with both sets of servo mounts. now that I reassemble the truck, I get a constant red light on the optidrive. Only the steering servo works, not the reverse/forward shift servo or the throttle/brake servo. The wires have no physical damage to them that i can see. Anybody know what is causing this?
and don't tell me to ditch optidrive because I don't feel the need to.

RE: electrical problem?
If you're sure you didn't unhook anything, check the sensor lead and make sure its plugged in correctly along with the throttle servo. Maybe take the sensor out and brush it off with an old toothbrush. Red light indicates either no signal to the throttle channel, no signal to/from the Optidrive sensor, or no signal (or intermittent) signal from the transmitter. The only other possible culprit would be the optidrive itself, which is unlikely since you say it worked fine before you took the boxes off. Also try replacing the batteries in the TX, and charging/replacing the batteries in the truck. Something has changed, find the change and you've found the culprit.

RE: electrical problem?
Ok, I tried all those things, charging the battery pack, fresh batteries in the transmitter, took apart the optidrive and brushed it off with a toothbrush, did the same with the inside of the receiver. I have looked at the exploded view from the Traxxas website and my wires are exactly like it shows. Think its the optidrive?[&o]
I took a 2 month break from RC because it was just too frustrating trying to fix one thing and have 2 more things magically break[]

Bypass the opti-drive and check for operation. If everything works then the opti-drive has gone bad. If you still have problmes then you'll need to look further.

RE: electrical problem?
I just found out yeaterday that my optidrive was red because one of the connections had come loose, and it gave me steering control but no throttle. have a look in the manual, i reckon you will be able to figure out how to bypass it.
