My Stampede Delima.
I have had a Stampede for a few years now, XL1. We have beat the crap out of the thing and it just keeps going, great toy! Well, it's finally starting to show it's age, parts are breaking, motor not that strong, etc. My neighbor just picked up a new XL5 and I have to say I'm impressed! Runs really strong, wheelies, quiet, precise. Soooo, I'm thinking I need a new truck. After adding up all the parts it's just not worth putting a bunch of money into a used Stampede. I could easily put over $100 in it and still have stuff that needs upgrading.
1. Is there any other brand of truck in the same class I should consider for the same money? This is the only truck I've ever owned.
2. Am I missing anything in the larger trucks...E-Savage, E-Maxx, etc? We mainly just bash in the street and yards here in the 'hood. So electric is the preferred fuel.
3. What do I do with the old one? Ebay it? Keep it for parts? I mean it still runs, drives fine, just not as quick & fun as the new ones.
My interest is really coming back in the hobby now that someone on the block has one. Now some others are talking about getting trucks too. So I gotta stay on top!!

The pede is kinda in a class by itself and I usually retire a truck to a parts box especially if buying a new one of same kind. The bigger trucks are just that, bigger, badder. Maybe more fuin if the terrain is real rough.
I think it's smart to get a brand new one of the same model.

RE: My Stampede Delima.
Thanks for the info!
I pulled the trigger on a new XL5 pede today...and a new 960 Super Brain. I'm not quit ready to spend the VXL kind of dough, along with batteries, etc. This new one will be a good transition driver for a while and a HUGE upgrade to my beat XL1. And, ya, I'll probably just keep it for parts and let the kids drive it. I'm going to keep my eyes open for a used E-Savage or maybe a nitro to play with too.

The down side to the E-Maxx and E-savage is the huge weight of the metal chasis... on the E-Savage. This means that the motors and batteries die faster as well as running times are short. I would say keep your old pede for parts and get an xl-5 so if you do break parts... you do have backups so running to the HS is not so often. How long do you get out of a battery in a normal bashing??? mini t
