Default picco 26 max newb question

Question 1
Ok so i purchased a used picco 26 max from a forum member and it came with a THS exhaust. The exhaust pipe is so bent that the end of the exhaust comes over my gas tank, is that normal or should i bend it back. Im afraid i may crack it.

Question 2
On my old 3.3 i noticed when i took apart my engine that there was a pinch bolt i had to take off to take the carb off. On this one i see no bolt and the carb can simply be pulled off. Is there supposed to be a pinch bolt?

Question 3
Silly question it came also with a motor savor air filter. I know the top part comes off easily but how about if i want to clean the inner part? it looks like its glued on there.

to bend the header back, heat it up, just off red hot and bend it slowly, little by little, it its starting to look like its gonna kink, stop let it cool and heat another bit , move a little, stop heat another bit move a little, dont bend it cold for the love of god.

I would just buy a new header......
to clean the filter just wash it with some dish soap and water....rinse it well and dry it with a hairdryer then apply some air filter oil.

The top of the Motorsaver filter comes off. Push it down into the filter body, tilt it to one side and pull it out. The pinch bolt and other Picco parts are available at www.nitrohouse.com
When you get the bolt, take the carb out and seal the carb base and both sides of the pinch bolt with Copper RTV. These are notorious leak points.

yeah i was planning to seal up the carb neck for sure, and mega maxx sorry i havnt seen a motor savor filter i just was used to taking off the whole head to clean it not any other route so figured id ask a dumb question before breaking something thanks for the kind words.

O and another dumb question. According to this diagram http://www.nitrohouse.com/picco%2026%20max.htm is this the part number would i need?
51460???
I Called my LHS and he said that the 51460 was for a smaller .12 size engine ... Do you think its the same?
Called ofna and they said its the same!

Yes, you need Ofna pn 51460. There's a bunch of parts that are used on several different motors. Idle stop screws are another example.

alright another dumb question
Does the o ring for the locking bolt go in between the screw and the 2 metal pieces that has the threading or does it go in the groove that the metal part with the threading has? There are 2 o rings.

Thanks again!

i wasnt trying to bash ya,i apologize if it came across that way, just that in the time it took you to type the question you could have sat down and looked at the air filter and figured it out, just dont be scared to play around and figure stuff out, thats how allot of people have learned to work on these things

I'd have to take my pinch bolt out to be sure, but I think one o-ring goes in the groove and one goes on the screw.

ok got it put together i didn't seal it yet though. I think i will run it first since the previous owner say their was no need to seal this up (despite many people in the forums telling me to ill wait)
Tomorrow ill get to test this beast out and tomorrow night possibly seal her up
Thanks for the input guys let you know how it goes.
O and i have read that some people put 2 gaskets others put three. I am using 20 percent and there are 2 on there, should i be concerned with removing one since im not running 30 percent or leave it as is?

Leave it as is. The reason for adding head shims (gaskets) is to lower the compression ratio to compensate for higher nitro content.

ok i got her fired up today and running like a charm but i have a quick question.
I have a THS pipe and was wondering if there is supposed to be a cushion or insert from the header to the back of the engine. I ask because the way my pipe is sitting there is about a .5 milimeter gap between the header and engine. Would that affect anything? It seems to be fine but i just want to make sure and see if there is something that should be inserted there since its just metal on metal right now.
Also since the ofna engine mount sits a bit higher than my old trx one my thorttle linkage seems like it might come out. Havn't had a problem yet but what can i do to fix this or make sure i dont have a problem with the throttle coming off.

There's supposed to be an o-ring on the exhaust port. As for the linkage, not sure what you mean about it almost coming off. If you mean the ball joint where the linkage connects to the carb, you can loosen the throttle arm on the carb and turn it so it functions smoothly.

yup thats what i meant, thanks, now i was driving tryna get used to this engine and it did a nasty flip and the carb head snapped in half. Must have hit the huge motor saver filter which should now be called motor killer!!!
