Default finally might have found the problem..

oaky well my RB hasnt been running for a long time, due to my lack of patience...but i finally decided to sit down and try to find the problem...it would start for like 2 seconds...then die...then after would just run less and less until it flooded. i thought it was a glow plug problem...but i went to prime it today and the fuel didnt move...took it apart and i found out that my fuel tank lid has a significant air leak...so i was going to buy a new tank because im pretty sure its the tank...the o ring looks fine. do u think this is the cause of my problems or just another problem?

Yea that would explain your engine only running when you prime it.

Try physically pooring fuel into the carb(only a little) and try starting it. If it starts and then dies the it probably is the fuel line/gas tank. Have you cleaned out ur fuel lines?

yeah i did. also will [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXRHP7&P=7]this[/link] fit just like the traxxas ones? mine is a little torn and since im ordering stuff i wanna get everything i need. and i will try what u said.

should i put the tank back on and do it? or can i leave it off along with the fuel lines and it will still start for a little? or will it not even start unless i have everything connected?

Keep the tank on the truck with everything hooked up. Then try starting it. If it does start try turning up the idle. If there is a leak in the tank then there will not be enough pressure to send the fuel through the lines into the carb. Turning up the idle should force some more fuel into it even with the leak. If it stays running after that then make sure everything else works.

so then if there is no pressure pushing the fuel into the lines then why does the tank have to be on?

To see if turning up the idle will force more fuel into the lines.

take off the fuel tank leave the lines on it , put it under water and blow through one line while pinching the other shutt, if you see bubbles or the lid pops up then your tank is definatly part if not all the prablem, either way you cant use a leaky tank so fix that prablem first then see if it runs right...

okay this might help:

check the pressure nipple on the pipe. it could be clogged. on my THS pipe, i had similar symptoms like you. VERY hard to prime by plugging up pipe and pull PS....engine would run for like 2 min, then all the air in the tank would get used up and the engine would actaully shut off becuase no exhuast is pressurizing the tank. also it would keep on flooding...

so just try this:
plug up stinger and blow through the pipe. air should be coming out of the pressure nipple. good luck

lol..its the part where the fuel tubing connects to the pipe...okay, theres 3 openings on a pipe. the part where you connect the manifold, the stinger, and the part where a tubing connects the pipe to apply pressure inside of the fual tank.

its what you plug your tank line into on ur pipe. if its clogged it wont preasurize your fuel tank.

really? nitro tastes like crap dude....haha. try just pluging the stinger. im not sure, but it might be bad if you have too much preasure in the fuel lines going to the carb...just a thought.

what i recommend to check first is your tune. then airleaks on the engine, backaplte, carb, exhaust sysytem etc...then if you dont find any, go into more specific things like clogged pressure nipple, clogged whatever. try to prime your engine by plugging the exhuast and turn your engine. if fuel is moving slowly in the tubing, then its almost 100% chance of airleak. RTV your engine just in case even though you dont fund and leaks.
