Tire Chains for Snow Driving?
I see the chains on Ebay and was wondering how they work? I live in Northern Ontario so the roads are almost always coveres in ice and they look pretty cool about 30 bucks for 4.

you could make your own chains, go to home depot buy some hard wire and a couple of feet in chains, don't know if it would be cheaper, but since its ebay shipping could be worth alot since its heavy

Ya that looks like a great idea. I wont have to wait for them to be shipped either. How will the truck hook up on say an icy road with no snow on it? I realise that in deep snow it will still spin alot but I am wondering on just ice I hope it hooks up hard.

you would get better results adding some spikes or studs to a set of tires.....the chains will add massive amounts of rotating mass that is not actually attached to the tires......

ah we got about 15 inches here in the last week. i am so sick of pushing snow with my fourwheeler, you can have it all. but driving the trucks in the snow is fun though.

Snow driving would limit the motors overall life l would imagine, from cold starts to cooling while running issues, what sort of overall life/hours do you get out of those things in the snow ?

you don 't leave the truck outside for hours and then start it. you don't have to worry bout cold engine scorring cause you are taking it from room temps to outside and starting it right away. the temps obviously run lower unless you wrap the engine, me myself i do not do this cause i don't run it unless it is at least 20 degree's outside. when i am done i bring it right back into the house to do the post run maintanance to it.
