for someone who ouready owns a revo there is no need in buying this! you can do all the upgrades yourself.

RE: 08 Revo Platinum Edition
i thought it would be possible with the right setup and .21 - .28 engine. Its the closest thing to a truggy than any other monster truck on the market. (correct me if im wrong)

RE: 08 Revo Platinum Edition
although it's the closest MT, the revo has no chance against a truggy in a battle the the death on a track, two completely different designs.
(and trust me there have been BIG flame wars over the revo being a truggy beater, whoever might read this, please don't go there)

Now a muggy can run with the real race truggies if its set up right.

RE: 08 Revo Platinum Edition
Slayer, i read too many times of the stories about how the revos (and tmaxxes) will keep a person spending money no matter what..
JB, i heard the same thing about the muggys but never seen one run against em though
Well i'll keep my money in my pocket then, i fell into that trap with the schumacher rc's and not about to go through that bs again.

RE: 08 Revo Platinum Edition
i have an 8ight T truggy, a muggy, and two revo's, and if you keep the revo for what they're designed for (as a small block monster truck) then they're one of the best buy's you'll ever make, but if you try and drop a big block in it and try to make it faster then a truggy, they are massive and i mean massive money pits.
a muggy will run with a truggy to a certain extent, once you get into people who really know how to drive and set up there car's the muggy start's to show it's short comings, but it's the best basher RC i've ever come across for the once in a while racer.

RE: 08 Revo Platinum Edition
Well I pre-paid for mine today,I had a Revo that I raced in the 05-06 seasons along with Kyosho ST-R in the truggy class got out for about year and half (we had a little girl) got back into racing about christmas time now have an Losi 8ight T and was racing 1/8 buggies also, but as soon as seen this come out it went up for sale.I just prefer the two truck classes alot of you are right this is not for guys who already a Revo (unless you want a basher and a racer) but for anybody who is looking into racing especially the monster truck class this is the way to go. 650$ may sound like alot but most of us already have radio's, you buy a starter box and it is race ready even the servo's can stay a combined 250oz on the steering 125oz on the throttle. Price any 1/8 scale (buggy&truggy) your at least a 1000$ by the time you build it up. All of you on this thread know you take a stock Revo and make these improvements at least 1000$ I think this will be the answer to sagging monster truck turnouts at least around here.

If you have the money then go right ahead.......I wish they would of came out with this when I decided to buy my stock revo and make it a race beast. Would of saved me a quiet a few dollars. But I have to agree wrenching is the best part of the hobby IMO.

RE: 08 Revo Platinum Edition
You all made the points for the truck it will save everybody money in the long run and in our "RTR" society people want to pull something out of a box and stick on the track. I don't know where you race but around here (Central Florida) I've seen countless guys buy RTR and go to the track and break, not be competitive then leave the Hobby cause they are frustrated. If you buy a "stock" Revo at minimum you have to buy a set of tires to race that alone puts you almost what the Platinum would be.

RE: 08 Revo Platinum Edition
If the Platinum Edition would have been out I would have bought it over a 3.3 Revo, I still would have added some of the hop ups that I have on my "Race" Revo though..Just the tires and 17mm hubs would put your 3.3 at the same price as the Platinum Edition Revo..If you bash and that's all you do I dont see the point in getting a Platinum Edition Revo, If you Race I dont see the point in getting a 3.3 Revo either..It's nice to see Traxxas step up and save the racers some money, It would have been easy for Traxxas to just keep on selling hop up parts and making a bunch of $$$$..I dont like the bump motor but I do like the better way of attaching the pipe..
