Hitec makes some of the best steering servos for rc cars and trucks. I am using a Hitec HSC 5997TG (Titanium Gear) with 180oz.in of torq for my 11 pound truck, its a little pricey though. Did you want a digital or Analog servo? Digital servos are fast, strong and the holding power is quite high. A good Analog servo would be HS-625MG has 94.43 oz.in or the HS-635HB 83.32 oz.in which has strong Karbonite gear train that can take abuse. My brother uses the HS-625MG (metal gear) 94.43 oz.in in his 12 pound Supermax for backyard bashing.

Thats twice the price (twice as good) than the ones I recommended, the OP has a T-Max 1/10 scale truck with an OS .18TM engine. I believe the OP is looking for a cost effective servo thats good for just bashing on the weekends.

Pretty much all car/truck servos are going to have metal gears, I can't speak to the Cirrus brand because I have never owned or heard anything about them.

Well one good sterring servo thats pretty inexpensive as far as servos go and is also metal geared is the hitec hs645mg. Its ususally less than 50 bux at most places and is one of the more popular metal geared servos out there...

wow.. I found 140oz to be inadequate for my 9 pound truggy,

Id recommend getting something with at least 140oz.. at least 140oz at .15 or .17
Hi-tec has one 925mg I think it is, 170oz .10sec

80oz is to weak for steering IMO 80oz is meant for throttle

If 140oz.in is inadequate for your 9 pound truggy, then I bet my bottom dollar you are not using a digital servo. One area where digital servos have a huge advantage is the amount of holding power (holding torque) and a typical digital servo will have double, sometimes even triple the holding torque to keep that servo horn locked into position. Also digital servos receive six power pulses before one power pulse reaches an analog servo, this is why digital servos have all available torque instantly. My Hitec digital servo (HSC-5997TG Titanium Gear) with 181oz.in of torque is fast and more than enough for my 10 pound plus Supermax.

Heres the deal, analog servos don't reach there full torque rating until the servo arm moves 1/3 through the turn of the servo arm. Digital servos reach full torque instantly and usaully have two to three times as much holding torque when holding the truck into a long turn. Like I stated before digital servos receive six power pulses before an analog servo ever gets it first (signal) power pulse.

Just trust your judgement and you should be fine, your T-Max is a 2.5 right? Also when you change out your old servo, make sure your linkage is freely moving without any real force needed to turn your wheels. It would be smart to invest a small amount of money in a ball bearing steering system, this way you make it that much easier for your servo.
