Default Still New

Ok I'm still fairly new to Nitro,

I was running my truck (Revo) yesterday and it was running fine for the first two tanks,
But about half way through the third tank it started to become a little slow to accelerate
then within a minute of noticing the sluggishness, It stopped moving.

The engine was still running, Idled fine and still reved up but the wheels weren't spinning,
I checked the engine (Best i know how) noticed that 1 screw on my cooling head was loose
so last night i removed it cleaned it and re-installed it, hoping that would help....

Fired it up today, no luck
Engine is still running but my wheels are still not spinning.
(They spin if i rev while lifting the truck in the air, But not as fast as they should be)
Can anyone tell me what the problem may be?

OK,
As I said Im still fairly new to this,

I know where your talking about
But
What exactly am I looking for here?

After looking around my question is....
Could it be that the Nut on my slipper clutch has worked itself a little to loose?
And if so is there a simple way to tell?

Did you smell anything burning when running? Alse check you gear mesh, those round tooth gears on the engines shaft and the bigger one. It sounds like something is slipping. You might want to invest in a better slipper clutch, Robinson Racing has a very nice slipper clutch that won't wear near at all, this R&R slipper clutch can be tuned to slip without melting your pads. The two slipper clutch kits below are from R&R, and they come in either plastic or hardened steel. The plastic one is the safest bet, the pads will last you a very long time and you can tighen them down more if you want a very responsive takeoff. Those rubber pegs in the stock slipper will melt if they slip too much, the R&R's will not.

OK,
The nut on my slipper clutch is the problem,
I tighten it and my truck runs perfect....
for a few minutes.
But the nut keeps working itself loose again.
Any Advice?

tighten it tighter

but for real, maybe you could locktight it, it just helps keep it tight, its not a perm. fix, so u could still get it off incase u strip a spur gear

as for the robinson racing spur.. i dont like the idea. This is just me, but i think the spur is plastic for a reason. I think its meant (other than to drive the gears in the tranny) to keep the gears in the tranny from stripping. The spur is a sacrificial piece so instead of ripping ur tranny apart.... you can just loosen the slipper clutch and BOOM, off comes ur spur. If you do go with the robinson spur, i'd get all metal tranny gears too but that would be a lot of extra rotating mass.

I was thinking locktight
but wasnt sure it that was a good idea or not
I'll most likely try the locktight first

Just be sure that whatever u do; if use locktite, DO NOT!!!! use the RED loctite!!! ONLY use the blue type because with the red type it is wayyyy more permanent and will make it nearly impossible to get the nut off. The blue is made to be removable(breaks down easier) so u can get nuts, screws, etc or whatever ur putting it on off if if have to..

Or you can make it simple and use a nyloc nut.

If its a bit worn, maybe u should get a new one for it; as that just might solve the problem at hand....

Id' just tighten it up some and put a small bit of blue locktite on it. Hold the truck tight so all four wheels will not move, then try turning the spur gear by hand. If the spur gear is easy to turn, you are way to loose.

I took my clutch assembly apart,
And cleaned everything
then tightened the nut up a little more than i thought i should
Its running perfect now.
I just put 3 tanks through it with no problems at all

I think it was slipping mostly because it was greasy
I am still going to get some locktight this weekend to be safe though
