well this is bad...
okay i got my radio. it's a JR XS3 and i have a problem now. i got it set up, plugged in the servos, receiver battery, etc. i setup my radio correctly (i think) and now it won't work. i turn it on and nothing happens at all. i can't control anything on my truck. does anyone know what's wrong. it's probably something obvious but i have never had a comp. radio before
thanks
i posted this on the radio forum but i didn't get any responses so im trying it here

try eliminating the switch they can go bad all the time plug your RX battery into the RX directly. also did you charge your battery pack? also you should check to make sure you have your servos plugged in right sometimes you may have to swap the wires around depending on your servos.

since the xs3 has no crystals......did you set the channel on the RX to match the TX? Here is the manual for the [link=http://www.jrradios.com/ProdInfo/Files/JRP317275-manual.pdf]XS3. PDF[/link] ...in case you don't have one.

I'd say go back to square 1. Start with unplugging everything. Leave the failsafe off for now, and just plug in one servo at a time (I'd start with throttle first... just 'cause that would be the easiest), set it up according to channel, and move from there. If you can't get basic functionality out of it with only one thing plugged in, you've either got a bad RX or the battery is bad.

Failsafe..? Try unplugging the failsafe and then use it. Your gonna love that radio once you get it working, I have the same one.

DING DING DING. that was it. when i had my duratrax failsafe plugged in it didn't work. also i had my servo leads plugged in backwards. i plugged them in the same way as the stock reciever (facing bottom) but for this radio they need to face up. so i reversed the servo leads and it worked but barely. then i unplugged the failsafe and it works fine.
THanks to everyone who commented.
so...why doesn't my failsafe work???
i have this one... http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXHLV3&P=ML

Honestly it reaches so far that you will loose sight of it before you loose range. Trust me I've tried it.
