Default finished my drifting tires (video)

okay so i wanna get some pvc pipe to use as tires for drifting but don't know which rims to use. i have the stock maxx ones which im not gonna use anymore but i can only find pvc pipe in 3" or 4" not 3.2" or 3.8" etc. can anyone give me a link to some tires that might work or post some pics of anyone who has done it.

thanks

worst case scenario you may have to cut the bead a little to make them fit. but you could also try and find some foams for the maxx (they had em somewhere) and superglue the crap out of the tire.

Default RE: maxx tires

here's one i just did

with the maxx tires i had to use 3" couplings, so they would fit because the 3" and 4" pipe were too small and too big

two things

that's abs, not pvc

pvc is white, abs - black
as you found, you have to use couplings
with pvc too

and if you put that on a Maxx
expect transmission troubles

Running those ABS as tires you will be hurting your engine! You'll effectively have very little load on the engine, you could blow your entire engine! Thats like reving your engine while holding your truck up off the ground, no load on the engine at high RPM = bad!

Just run it rich, you won't need all the power, and don't do WOT for long.

There is a load on the engine, clutch, transmission, diffs, wheels, ground.

what you may want to do is find a way to put some rubber or something on there maybe cut a little groove in it and use some big O-rings that way you have a little traction.

ya i was thinking about that. im gonna try them w/o traction and see how it goes. if it is uncontrollable then i may use some o-rings or something.

i made some too, i have the 3.3 on my revo and used the 3.8 rims with a 4"pipe just had to cut the bead off the rim alittle and used some duct tape between the two beads front and rear and all good to go... If anyone is wondering i bought 4" pvc pipe cut into 2 3/4" pieces and hot glued the pvc to the rim.

NOW a drifting Revo

i guess i forgot to say how i did mine.

Steps:
1. unglued tires
2. taped the space between the wheel bead
3. slid them into the ABC pipe tightly and superglued to the pipe.
4. i used 3" connection segments for 3" pipe.
5. i cut off about 1" from the coupling in order to have the rim fit in the pipe well.

Default RE: finished my drifting tires

here is the finished product next to my new maxx. (w/ 4in. clearance) i repositioned the shocks to have it sit lower. i now have it 2 in. in front and 2 1/2 in back

hope you like it!

man i can't wait till this weekend!!!

EDIT: also for anyone planning to make some. Inside the segments, there is a seperator. (a little ridge inside about 2mm high) i just dremeled it out. Also after you cut the pipe, i cleaned it up with a bench grinder that has a wire brush wheel. This takes off any rough edges or loose pieces.

also here is a link to the wire wheel i used to smooth off the edges... http://www.amazon.com/Delta-23-096-8.../dp/B00004Y9FD

here is the coupling i used...

You can upload it to [link=http://www.rcuvideos.com/publish/]RCU Videos[/link] for free. Once it's posted, you can place a link here in the thread. If you can upload it elsewhere on the web, just post a link to it here.
