the trucks almost together. i installed all the electronics. when i turn the car on the steering servo is fine but the throttle servo starts going nuts flickering back and forth, then goes to the fully open position and stops. won't move with the transmittor at all at this point. i do have a failsafe but it does the same with or without it. i charged the battery in my car a couple days ago and it hasn't been used at all since then. any thoughts?

Your servo could be bad or there is an exposed spot on the servo wire or your receiver battery is dead.

also, everything worked before i took the truck apart.

does it have opti drive cuz that can hppen if it fails, i dont think its ur servo i would play with the wireing

I definitely agree here on this...definitely sounds like a bad servo to me as well or like he said a dead receiver power supply....

+1 here. I've had servos twitch like that on my electric airplanes and they were bad. Sounds like t9dragon and matts6887 are correct.

yup, servo it was. replaced it and works like a charm now....by the time i'm done with this used truck its gonna cost me the same as a new one would have.

i wouldn't know. so far i have about 12 hours or more wrenching time and MAYBE five minutes driving time, which wasn't very enjoyable since the truck ran like ______

Sorry to hear that man, that does stink.....but remember, that happens to even the most experienced of rc'ers. And it has and can happen to just about anyone thats been in the hobby for any length of time....

There are ups and downs no doubt but overall I hope you have a great time with your truck. I bought a brand new XL and it had problems shortly after break in. I was to the point of giving it away. I did sell it cheap to a guy on here and he found the problem asap, fixed it and posted a video of the truck screaming so I know your frustrations. He offered to sell it back to me but that really would'nt be fair to him in my eyes. He bought it and fixed it so it was his gain and my loss all becouse I gave up. Lesson learned.

understandable. i actually got a little more time in today. i was trying to tune the carb up but the truck kept dying and was a b#^*@ to start again!!! I'm using the traxxas EZ start and i think its junk, not sure. the truck would act like it was loading up on fuel and shutting off because when i would take the glow plug out it would be wet. but to get it back started i would have to let it air out, then flood it with fuel and crank on it with wide open throttle till the mixture was right before it would start. needless too say i'd get one start for every battery charge with the EZ start. this is frustrating. but when the truck did run it seemed to run great so i guess i just have more learning to do. Oh, and the carb was set at factory specs. uuuuugggghhhhhh

UPDATE!!!!!

After reading some forums here I found a great article on how to find air leaks. figured I had nothing to lose so i tested my revo.....WOW. The line from the exhaust to the tank had a pinhole. The tank gasket wasn't sealing at all. plus i have a crack in my carb. I'm going to try to seal the crack with some silicon since i want to upgrade to a picco this winter, just want this engine to get me till snow flies. I went ahead and sealed the back-plate just to be sure, and if my fix works i'll seal up the carb, get a new tank gasket, some new fuel line and give her a try again tomorrow!!

Thats an awsome link! Thanks mopower2ya for sharing it with us. I'm going to pre check my new OS for air leaks before I even start it now that I see how simple it is to do. I've never done it. I don't think I've ever dealt with an airleak on my engines but why not check it before break in, just makes sense to do so.

yea, its simple. I took allot out of that article, too. I didn't get a chance to test out my truck tonight cause i couldn't get the gas tank to seal, plus it's monday night football. maybe tomorrow, if i'm lucky.

I tested the new OS for air leaks and came up with none. Nice to know before I even start it for the first time. I had already sealed the back plate and carb for the heck of it before I installed it. I'll always do this from now on before ever starting a new motor.
