Default aluminum rims for revo

are aluminum rims anything more than just bling? how much more do they weigh compared to plastic? and is there any other performance issues between the two?

Aluminum rims are usually heavier than plastic and will not flex. If you bash at all, stick with the plastic ones. You will break the aluminum ones.

The bad thing when it comes to aluminum rims is the fact that they are heavier and they will bend. They cost more, and once you bend a pair you're pretty much screwed. Other than that they look pretty nice.

I think there's a company called sp racing or somthing like that, they sell aluminum rims and claim that they help you carry faster corner speed. But with that comes the implication that acceleration and braking will suffer do to the added weight.

And they're pretty pricey compared to normal plastics rims.

sounds pretty good! but I'm not a racer or a good driver...a little worried about breakage. How much does it take to bend these things?

with added weight below the springs (unsprung wieght) it will usually slow you down so I don't know how anyone would claim to have something heavier that would help with cornering or anything else. Weight is weight no matter where it is. That's why when real normal cars go from steel wheels to aluminum wheels the handle slightly better. With aluminum wheels on these trucks that are generally going to be heavier than the plastic your handling will not improve but I imagine that the aluminum would handle a little more in terms of bashing than the plastic would but like he said once they are bent you are pretty much done!

Did I mention that if you bend, break, strip the SPI wheels, just send them back and they will (no questions ask) send you another wheel?

I'm guessing the SPI wheels are for 40 series but it doesn't say anything on the website.

Very impressed so far.
