based on my recent experience I would stay away from MIP cvds becuase the rolled pin that holds them to the pivot ball on the transmission output shaft loves to just fly right out leaving you with all sorts of power that won't go to the wheels! I would stick with Traxxas brand!

hey power454

I know what you mean about the MIP cvd's. I tried those and they failed on me. So, I bought dynamite DYN7689 CVD's for both the front and rear. I also bought the center cvd drive shafts DYN 7686 but they would not fit. I think I have the very first model of the E-maxx. In the instruction manual the hardware parts list page is dated June 1999 and the E-maxx parts list page is dated October 2000. This is the problem I encountered:
the differential out drives are to big to fit into the end of the center cvd's. So either side that comes out of the transmission will fit but the other side going to the differential will not fit. Same goes if I flip it around to the other direction I still have the same problem. So basically one side of the cvd fits but the other does not. There are two different size holes on both ends of the same shaft. Have the differential out drives changed sizes since the very first 3906 model?

I would like to go with the dynamite brand just because I have already installed the front and rears. I want them to all match including the centers.
Thanks,
alex.

they may changed lengths but I don't think they would have changed sizesunless for some reason they got thicker due to bigger motors out on the market. Idon't know much about the dynamite cvds in all honesty. I ended up using electrical tape to hold the rolled pins in on mine and cutting the tape width wise so it didn't look so bad. I wish I could help you more with the dynamite cvds. The only thing that I can think of is that you got some cvds where the differential cups did not come with the kit. I had to replace both ends (the end going to the transmission output shaft and the end going to the front and rear differential input shafts) with cups that came with the cvds from MIP. Maybe check your LHS to see if that might have happened or maybe check dynamites website. You should find it on the package or on the instruction sheet I would think.
