Default Which Fail Safe

Last night my Revo 3.3 decided to run for the hills. I use the NiMh battery back and it must have run down.... The Truck went wide open and full turn to the right. It narrowly missed my neighbors garage door..... Fortunately that same neighbor has not cut their grass so it slowed the truck down just enough before it slammed into a for sale sign in the front yard. Not too much damage but it could have gone horrible wrong.

So I have done a lot of reading about the fail safe units that are offered and every time I think about buying one I come across another thread that says that specific model sucks and not to waste my money. So which is the best fail safe? I don't really need a temp gauge but like the idea of another option to carrying my temp gun.

Thanks for the input.

If you ever decide to up-grade your Transmitter to say a Spektrum system, it has a built in failsafe. Many other aftermarket radio manufacturers have this also.

I actually thought about that and would love to upgrade but don't have the ~$280 to do so.... $20 is more in my budget

I had the same thing happen to my 2.5 Revo using the standard Traxxas radio. I use a Venom fail safe and it has not happend since. When the batteries get low the truck just idles instead of running all around the place out of control.

I use the least expensive fail-safe I can find at the time I need one.
I do not reccomend that you get a fail-safe/temp guage combo. A seperate temp gun is far, far more versitile.

Thanks for the input.... I will def be ordering one.... The truck is too expensive not to spend ~$20 on a fail safe. Breaking just one or two parts will cost that.

My OFNA Micro came in....

I was able to get it all in the RX box pretty easily.... I have not ran with it but it seems to work when I shut the transmitter off.... The throttle servo applies the brakes.

I have notice it sure makes the servo a lot more shaky like there is a lot of interference.

I use that ofna one too. One thing I really like about it is that it will cause my truck to go into failsafe mode off and on for a while as my batteries get weak. It's kinda my reminder to change my batteries. Of course I just use normal AA batteries.
