RE: water proof
there is no way that i know of to make a nitro r/c fully water proof, but there are a few things you can do to help it out.
-take the servos out and put a thin bead of silicone inside the case around the lip where it splits.
-seal the battery box in the same manner( this could be a pain to remove every time if it doesn't have a battery port like the revo).
-seal up the receiver box
-use a good airfilter, won't really effect waterproofness, but will let the truck run much better.
-glue your tires well to keep the foam in good shape, the water can throw them out of balance.
i know it's not alot of info, but it's all i could think of at the moment.

RE: water proof
some of the guys use a ballon to seal up the reciever and silicon at the opening .
wd40 , does have great water displacement values
so after you run it in water. use wd 40 to displace the water
off the bearings and other metal parts. i use compressed
air to blow off dust and other debris off my trucks when i get
done running them and that would help get the water off too

RE: water proof
for silicone, i would just use regular black silicone. the things i said to seal aren't in a location where fuel would get on them, so no need for special stuff. i usually use permatex ultra black
