Picco 26 Max....the DARK SIDE....
How many of y'all have gone over to the "Dark Side, " with that Black and Blue, Ofna Picco 26 Max ????????????????????????????????????????????
I'll start.....I'm there, and I'm already saving for another..... Tricks I've found that work great, and keep the grin factor at Max level in a REVO.... 16/38 gearing M/S filter on OEM REVO snorkle Shorten theexhaust header5'16", or the length of the "bell" Open the muffler outlet to 7/32" Seal the carb to the crankase with "copper" RTV HEAT CYCLE your first fuel tank....shut off every time the engine reaches 240-250F, Do NOT idle the 1st tank, run at 1/4 to 1/2 throttle, watch temps, and heat cycle! Do the second tank the same way.....then 3rd-5th normal break-in. These engines are tight and will generate heat, even rich....watch those temps on the first 2 tanks. During heat cycle, rotate the piston to bdc during cool down, do not restart until temp is beow 110F. This is what I've found works good....it is NOT gospel, and as another bit of info, I'm at about 250' asl. If you've got a different combo, other observations or ideas on break-in, POST em! But let's keep this thread about the Dark Side, let's complile some working data on the Picco 26 Max HERE. |

Are you happy with this engine?
I know it's got a lot of power but how's the life of the engine? Is it quality? I've heard the stock Revo pipe seems to work great in the Picco 26. True? Is it a gas hog? How does its performance compare to other engines similar in size? It's gonna be a week before I can run it, and it's drivin me nuts! I can't wait to see what it'll do. Where did you find that break-in procedure? Did you follow it too? Great results? If so I'll follow it to a TEE. Next week will be too much fun. I get my LST2 back from Losi (transmision problems right outta the box) and I pick up my Picco 26. Hey how would the Picco 26 do in a LST2? LOL :-) |

i have and all i can say is loving it.
used traxxas break-in as find this is best 15/36 gearing M/S filter on OEM REVO snorkle with epoxy round base qoncepts header but going bk to stock cant find a coupler that wont stop burning up bored out muffler to a 1mm wall thickness sealed whole engine with loctite engine sealant "carb,backplate and even a little on the copper shims on the head" sealed up great break in was a doddle only had one major temp at start but noticed my fuel tank o-ring went so changed it over and was great only problem i am having is im burning up exhaust couplers with the qoncepts flex header and so im going bk to stock old pictures i now have the carbon battery holder and all my electrics are now ballooned up http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c6...orevo/REVO.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c6...revo/REVO2.jpg |

Man, I have a picco 26 max on my revo and the low end is awsome. I am having a problem with wheelies i cannot keep the front wheels in the ground. I am using stock gearing does anyone have any suggestions with this problem.

an owb, is a "one way bearing." OEM is "original equipment manufacture(r)" or "stock part." So what it said/meant was....the stock REVO one way bearing will work with a Picco 26 Max. |

If you use the easy start on it the stock OWB works. If you buy the pullstart version it comes with a flanged OWB.

Do you think I should Buy a Revo And Get a Picco .26 for it or get a Nemesis and leave it stock? My Main goal is to Smoke my freind who is getting a stock Savage Le.So here is the Question, can a stock Revo Beat a Stock Savage Le? I'll Upgrade it to a Picco .26 as soon as I have to $$$ To. Thanks |

dont want to make you sound stupid mate but a standard revo tuned would whoop a savages a$s and having a picco 26, mnow that would not be called for we want them to think savages are good at something lol.

The only way I can outrun him is to put a jump in the middle of our race and hope that he gets over anxious and flips it on the jump. Or, I guess I could make it a 10 foot dragrace, I think I could take him then. And I will tell you that it's not easy having a 7 year old kid outrun you with a truck you bought and paid for. But I love him anyway. Trust me. The Savage does not have a chance against it in stock form. The 4.6 may be a little closer, but I might still put my money on the Revo. |

ZoomZoom1. At that point, if he does win a drag race, tell him you have to go to the end then turn around and come back to finish the race. Savages just love high speed corners:D:D:D Now I am just being mean. I personally think you will still win. And on a race track, the Savage would not stand a chance if you can keep the Revo from pulling wheelies.

Hey Kliff, I had the Picco 26 ordered and waiting for me at my LHS and I changed my mind. I'm gonna have to go with the OS 18TM. My buddy has a Picco 26 and it just seems to be way too much power for the REVO. I like the OS reliability although I'm sure the Picco isn't far off. I should have the OS by the end of the week. I guess I got scared of the dark! :(

Well Kliff, my buddy has the Picco 26 in his REVO and I don't wanna be like everyone else! You have an OS 18 don't ya? What to expect from it? Any comparison on top end with the Picco? I know he'll probably spank my off the start. I'm trying to lighten my REVO as much as possible but nothin crazy. That Picco is much bigger than the OS isn't it? I think my stocker 2.5R heard I was retiring it and decided to impress me. Lately it's been blowin my mind with new found power. I'm in the dark on that one. [8D]

Is it blowing you away with power, or are your skills improving so that you can use the power?
There is honestly no way I can compare the OS and Picco, even tho I own both. They are in 2 ENTIRELY different trucks. Initial gearing, tranny gearing, C/D on the racer, lighter by about 1.5lbs on the racer, different shocks, springs, pre-loads, tires, wheels.....there is NO way to compare them...... I'm not "dissin' " you, for changing your mind, please don't think that....I like the power torque and speed of the Picco for bashing....I like the instantaneous acceleration of the OS for the racer....... Either engine, you'll be happy with, and maybe one day 'll take both engines and run comparison tests, in one truck.....but for now, I'm just having too much fun! |

This 2.5R is impressive lately. My driving and/or tuning experience can't be the factor. She's either jealous of the OS18 on the way or the LST2 on the way. :) This thing has come alive! Now, all this has taken place the last few days and I ran really hard yesterday so I'll have to clean her up tomorrow and run her again and let ya know if she's still running like she's shootin' blood down her leg wonderin' when the next paycheck will be here. Speaking of PMS, I told my wife she needs to get some video so you all believe me Kliff about this 2.5R......We have a digital cam Nikon Coolpix that is basically a cheap video camera with sound and I hope I can capture a few holeshot wheelies in the cul-da-sac. Now I know 2.5R can wheelie but I don't read much about it on here. [X(]

Great thread guys, just when i needed it. Im looking at the Picco myself. Kliff those mods ur talking about doing are they to the stock exhaust or what? I would want to get an aftermarket pipe for this engine if i get it. I've been looking on Tower and they have a CVEC pipe that looks pretty cool. It says its for big block REVO's. Problem is, i have no experience with any pipes on anything this is my first nitro. Its a Revo by the way. Also, i know i dont want the trinity. Thanks guys.

Modify the stock pipe, it IS mpressive! More details of ppe, break-in, 30%nitro usage, etc, here...

Thanks Kliff. Do you run standard glow plugs? Also, when you say shorten the header at the bell, do you mean just cut off the bell or just trim it. Will the MS filter fit right onto the stock snorkel?

Cut the bell off, that will give you the 5/16 you are looking for.
No, the MS is not a plug n play on the stock snorkle. Remove the OEM filter cannister from the snorkle.....see that BIG hole, well you gotta duplicte that big hole on the MS cannister where the spigot now sticks out. 5-10 minutes with a dremel. Be sure you GLUE the snokle and MS togther as the houing on the MS is thnner than the OEM, it will not fit as well, but a litte Zap-a-dap-a-goo willl take care of that. BE CERTAIN all oil is removed from both peices, before gluing. MC59 > 20% nitro MC9 > 30% nitro ORIGINAL: ncbasher Thanks Kliff. Do you run standard glow plugs? Kliff you are the man! You're a BIG help! I'm much more confident with the Picco now. I was gonna go with the RB just because of it being a complete kit. I keep telling myself, "....there's more power there....change the pipe..." BUT WHY? It's a great combo like this, not to mention CHEAP, with a 16/38 CB/spur combo, controllable, with insane speed.....
I might try something different later, If I do, it'll be a THS.....but don't expect anything any time soon.....I like it, like it is. ORIGINAL: ncbasher Kliff you are the man! You're a BIG help! sorry not posted in a bit guys been busy working to get a MX bike this year putting in about a 60 hour week.
will get the new pics of the revo tomorrow when i got my new camera as cracked my last one after jumping out the way of revo. kliff love being a member of the club we will have to get our own website next lol |
