Bulkless Conversion Problem

Well, a friend of mine bought a TMaxx 3.3 and then went crazy buying upgrades for it. Anyway, he ended up putting in an aluminum bulkless conversion. Anyone familiar with doing this? I am not at all. Anyway, now that it's all installed and everything... his truck won't roll forward like mine does. Mine will roll freely across the ground... because nothing is engaging. His truck, if you push it on the ground, the wheels just slide, unless you put some force down on them, then they will rotated with the driveshaft and stuff. But it doesn't roll freely. ANY solutions or ideas as to what this would be?

what bulkless system is it?

are the differentials put in the right way?

sounds like something is binding in the diffs... post some pics if you can...

Or maybe the brakes are adjusted too tight....

First thought...I'd agree with Kliff, sounds like the brake is too tight.

If one diff is installed backwards the truck will not roll at all with all four tires on the ground. However, it would roll freely with either the front tires up or the back tires up.

Lastly, the bulkless set up I had (FLM) you had to make sure the bearings were seated properly or the diffs would bind when the case was bolted together. A slight tap on each bearing to seat it cured the problem.

Thanks for the info guys... after removing the diffs and everything, they seems to spin ok. Then after reinstalling them, they didn't. Turns out... the center drive shaft was a little too long and wedged in there.

What is a bulkless conversion? Bulk=Bulkhead?

RE: Bulkless Conversion Problem

It is a bulkhead + diff case machined out of 1 single piece of aluminum.

Woa that sounds nuts. Does it take the slop out of the diffs? I don't know about you guys but the diff cases are kinda sloppy in the bulkhead, it came like that. It seems like if they can flex aroound in there a little that might reduce the initial "punch" getting to the ground.

there isnt too much slop in there to begin with. However, it gets rid of the wholediff case which is nice.

Who makes this part?

Maybe I'm an idiot but neither of their websites shows a pictue of that particular part

Here's a direct link to the Hybrid bulks I had on my Maxx...

Or for the absolute highest quality go w/ UE (Supermaxx) VBS Bulkless...

Thanks, I saw those on there site. I should have been more specific, I have a Revo

i would go with the FLM ones, even if you do break them, they have the "Fast Lane’s extreme abuse warranty. Replacement cost per side $15.00." and they are 400$ less than the UE ones, so you could break them MANY times and still save money over the UE ones

RE: Bulkless Conversion Problem

I have those FLM ones and my only complaint is that I was unable to use the barces that the bumper screwes into, making it hard to attach the bumper. besides that, i love it. it comes with everything you need to install it. besure you remember how the diffs go in, cause i didnt, it sucked.
