Default Multi-engine/multi-Rx setup

Hello! Quick question for you experts

I am about to start my VQ P-38 that I bought about a year ago, and I have a question about using two Rx's.

I guess the first question is: Do I even need to?

Here is what I was thinking:
1 ch ea for alr.(2)
1 ch ea for engines(2)
1 ch flaps
1 ch elev
1 ch rud
1 ch retracts
total of 8 channels needed. sound right, or am i missing something?

Ok, so if i do opt for two rx's, putting one in each boom (if there is even room...), would I need to "cross connect" them? that is: (I get these goofed, so dont yell...) ch1 for the right alr, pluged into BOTH rx's or just the right side one, leaving ch1 in the left boom empty?

I have read a lot about making sure to get matching engines, both new outta the same lot yada yada yada.... what about Rx's? is that as huge a concern? (no moving parts etc)

thanks! and, as always, if this is answered somewhere else, simply point me in the right direction

Jim,
Due to the size of the plane there is no need for dual RX's... Will just cause more aggravation
and confuusion... Ail on one chnnl, flaps on one chnnl, ele on one chnnl, rudder on one chnnl,
retracts on one chnnl, and throttle on one chnnl... If you are using 8chnnl RX then you
can use two chnnls for throttles and do a mix in the TX of throttles to rudder..
HOWEVER.. Would be wise to give thought to dual switches and dual batteries...
My 'rule of thumb' of batteries is one battery / switchper every four or five servos,
depending on use and servo power draw...
As the plane you are doing is not going to require major power the use of two switches
and two 1600 mah nickle metals would more than suffice.. Batteries can be wye'd off
ANY port in the RX as RX's use same power buss thru-out.. So you could plug into the
power port with one and any other port with a wye going to battery other end going to servo..

Jim I had a 80 in Bronco with two RX in it and it worked fine. When I firsr tried to set up the Bronco I tried it with one rx in the middle and it was a wireing night mare, With all the y connectors and the long leads. It was cheaper to buy a RX than all the y connectors. Hope this helps.

this is why i love this place! so many options and thoughts!

i see both points mad thus far. i really like the k.i.s.s. (keep it simple stupid) way of thinking.... so, i would like to use just one rx.

however, the other point is well made... tons of wires, it would be nice to keep each 1/2 of the plane neat... (havent done a price check yet on wires to rx though.... )

the one thing i will do either way is more batteries.

thanks for the ideas.... any others?

p.s. mr. Baldeagle, what ov-10 are you flying? the kit or arf or scratch?
