Can someone tell me if the Duelist is based on a full size aircraft?
If so, who built it and what was it used for?

While the Duellist is vaguely similar to the Grumman F7F Tigercat, Dave Platt designed it from the start as an R/C twin.

No it is not scale and representative of any full scale aircraft.
