Hi guys my first maiden was good, the only issue I had was that it runs quickly and lifts rapidly, so quickly that I couldn't react and for a second the plane almost crashes,,,,

As for prizes? 130 Gbp against 1695 Dkr. I haven´t checked it on a currency list. The postage from brittain would have been a little extra for me. And I don´t think I saved anything by driving to get my Harmony. Flooring a 4x4 on the expressway can buy a lot of stamps.
I bought mine from Kessock Models in UK a lot cheaper £119.00 inclusive of VAT tax. [link=http://www.kessockmodels.com/acatalog/Basic_Products.html]Kessock Models[/link]

I flew my DA for the first time yesterday. Power is a couple O.S. 55's, radio is JR the retracts are Robart. This is a very nice flying airplane. On the second flight I had the left engine quit. Had to circle the field twice before I could land, had no problem at all.

RE: Seagull's "Dual Ace"
I used a set of 605HD for the mains and a 610 for the nose. The mains are pneumatic and the nose gear is mechanical. I had these in my shop so I used them. If I were to buy a new set I would get the 604 set, all pneumatic. This plane really hauls with the gear tucked away.

Bo,
The nose gear unit is a firewall mount, I just mounted the unit flat on the firewall. On the mains, I cut out the fixed gear mounts then added hardwood rails between the existing ribs. I also doubled the ribs with 1/8'' lite ply. The whole process took less than two hours per side to complete. I will take some photos next time I have it out and post them.

Brian..thanks...there was a retract thread a few weeks ago...did you follow it?
I have over 50 flights on my DA and it is a grat airframe. Lands hot and I have a hard time keeping it on our short paved strip. I have a Fults nose gear...that helped a bunch.

RE: Seagull's "Dual Ace"
Hey guys, I have been drooling over this forum. Lots of good info. I have a dual ace on the way from e-bay, hopefully it arrives soon. I have a question for you all. I am planning on running OS La 46s. I am looking for smooth reliable power. Will they be enough? Thanks Skip D

RE: Seagull's "Dual Ace"
I have two AX's in mine w/stock mufflers. Fixed gear. 11.5 #. Over 50-flights.
I put oversized tires and run 10/6 props to fix the prop strike problem. I love this airframe. Also have a Cox Duelist, Cedar Hobbies Twin Stik, and a TF Cessna 310. Haven't flow the 310, yet...but the Seagul is much superior to the Duelists. The Twin Stik is used for an engine break-in mule.
I plan to get another DA, paint it, use retracts, and twinsync.

RE: Seagull's "Dual Ace"
Paul,
I had two Pica Duelists that I built before trying the Cox ARF. The big problem with Cox's airframe is that the R&D just was not ready for prime time. Lots of problems that I worlef with their enginner to put right in future production runs.
The Duelist is a georgeous airframe and flies wonderfully, it just was not a pleasant build. The DA land better, but the short gear is a problem w/prop strikes. The Duelist's gear is much longer, but the 3/16th nose gear is very spindly. Takes a very gentle hand on take off and landing.
Here are a couple of pics of the Duelist.

RE: Seagull's "Dual Ace"
On the question about the LA-46s in the Dual Ace. I have been flying one for a year now, probably have over 100 flights on it and I am using 2 LA-40s with 10x6 props. Plenty of power. I did keep the weight down by moving the servos to the front of the cabin and as I recall, total flying weight is about 10.8 pounds as I did not have to add as much in the nose as some guys did. I am putting another one together right now with twin OS 52 four strokes. I am also custom building the engine nacelles and getting rid of those non scale looking ones the mfgr provided. Went out to the airport and took some measurements on a Cessna 340 to get a general idea of scale.
I have also had 2 engine outs and no big deal. If you turn into a dead engine however, be real careful or she'll snap roll on you.

RE: Seagull's "Dual Ace"
I have no weight in the nose as I am balanced at 100mm. Flies much better than the instruction manual calls for at 85-90 mm...mine is just over 11#. Never had an engine out...love those 46AX's.

I have 2 TT GP 42's on my DA and one of them quit on takeoff about 1 foot off the ground. It spun in before the engine out was detected. No major damage - one busted prop and the nose cone was knocked off. I am seriously considering changing to .52 Magnum four strokes. Are you concerned with prop clearance with the 4 stroke engines? I sure would like to see your nacelle design.
