Oh no they can be but it's going to take some doing. I've already planned on replacing the windows. That clear covering they used for a cheap window runs under the front part of the canopy. Depending on how easy that clear covering comes off the whole canopy may need to be re covered.

Slightly off topic for one post question and answer:
mu2driver: Do you really fly a MU2? That has always been one of my favorite twins from long, long ago!

Congrats,
Just took mine out of the box....So far Im impressed..nice construction, its looking like a Piper Senica or Beach Duke more and more....
only whine is, I wish it had retracts...
Hi MU,no doubt about it. I always thought my DA looked like the Seneca, but seeing your post mentioning the Beech Duke,I googled up some pics of this particular aircraft, and found it's almost a carbon copy, even down to the windows and that dorsal fin from the tail to the cabin.
One nice looking job,
Cheers,
Fearless.

I too just got my Dual Ace, 2 x Evo .46, 7 x JR Sport servos...
I cant wait to get started...man this thing is cool!!!
Has anybody been able too demo the single engine stability yet?
Hi again MU,one of our club members flew one for the first time,(as a matter of fact it was the first time he had flown a twin). He is running the new Evolution .46's,(now there's a sweet little engine that's very easy to tune, and will give serious competition to the established manufacturers). He took off,and after a short while he noticed a slight drop in speed coupled with a slight yaw. He did not fully understanding what was going on until she came around, and then he saw the port engine had stopped. He just increased the throttle a small amount, gave her a tad of rudder, and landed without any drama at all. This says something for the design of this critter.
Cheers,
Fearless.

Still - no pics I apologize. But the DA went out to the field Sun. I hadn't had a chance to balance it, or run the engines together. I did manage to identify and solve some engine problems, and nothing fell apart. Sure sounds good with both those FX's synched! It got a lot of compliments, as well... I was prepared to not like the covering but it looks pretty good out of the box in the sunlight. By coincidence, it's exactally teh same color scheme on my old H9 Matt Chapman CAP 232. Very odd. Should fly next weekend.
BTW, anybody else have trouble getting the cowls to line up? I have no idea how they managed to get htem to sit so flat on the box.... unless there actually are a left and a right...... Do'oh!

a65, yes there are cowl-fit problems. I too am not sure what to do at this point. The rear part is what sticks up about half an inch high. I have installed OS .52 four strokers in th up-right mounted position. Bottom cowl fits fine though. I also changed the nose gear to a dual wheel. rear mains might become a little wobbly after a few landings. If you have any ideas or solutions to the top cowl fit problem, please share. I wonder if a shaped balsa filler under the top cowl would look cheesy ?. also installed 11 ounce tanks. Respectfully, MM PS, Hi Bill !!

Hi to you also Mike. It's been a while.
The Dual Ace? Exceptfor the added vertical in front of the fin I think it looks like Ted Smith's best design, the Aerostfar.

Mu2:
I really don'tthink so. Same nuimber of windows, in profile the DA added rear fin makes the outline similar, they both have the little nubbin sticking out the tail...
Are there any Mu2 planes still flying? They were very popular 20-30 years ago, seldom see one anymore. Roy Clark (HeeHaw) had one. I never cared fortheir looks, the wing crossing the cabin just looked wrong to me.

Hi Bill,I have looked at both of the photos of the Duke and the Aerostar, and as much as I admire your obvious knowledge of all things aircraft,my money's on the Duke. They look almost identical. The only similarity I can see between the Dual Ace and the Aerostar is that they are both twins.
Cheers,
Fearless.

OK, OK. I'll admit the Beech Duke is the closest. No argument. But I still see elements of the others in it. And consider the Cessna 420 also. If, that is, you insist on a low wing.

Lots of cursing and lots of screws. Seriously, I'm just going to mount them the best I can for now and figure out something later. This is my twin trainer so I don't imagine the cowls are going to stay on all that much. I got the r/h cowl mounted tonight, and all I have to show for about an hour of farting around with it is a top that sit about 1/8" further foward than the bottom. Frustrating. I tried to get the engines tight to the cowls, but now the screws that hold the half moon to the top cowl rub the spinner. Arrghhhh. I'll get something figured out sooner or later...

RE: ordered my seagull dual ace with pics!!!
Mike, a65, and of course, Bill , Dare I say to go so far that it appears to be a design flaw ? Of course the front top of the cowls will have to fit into the bottom front cowls. That raises the top end over the wing a healthy half inch or more. We can't do much to the cowl to shape it to fit better, or can we ?. My only solution is to shape a length of 1/2 '' thick sheet balsa to the contour of the rear part of the cowl. Ultracote it and insert. Screw down through it to secure. Would that look "chinnsy" ?. Off topic, how are you guys securing the 2/56 rudder pushrod after it exits the top of the fuse to the rudder ? It "bows" when you give it full swing. One last item, are all of you really confident that the maple block main gear will hold up after repeated landings ? [ I meant for those of you who are less than smooth with your landings ] I have seen the wood split at the hole for the ninety-degree gear bend. Seeya, MM
