Here's how i did the KMP. Just used a 1/4 20 bolt and blind nut which both secures the outer wing panel and acts as an anti-rotation pin. Access is through the main gear well.

Mine is the same but with 1/4 x 20 nylon bolts and incidence pegs. I have done the same to hold the nacells onto the center section. I leave the spar in the nacell and the wings slide down onto it. More than strong enough. Has even survived a crash.

Tom, I have the ESM version with the built up wing. I didnt re-inforce the wing at all as it only seemed to be the early composite wings had strength issues.

My next project is also a P40 but the 50cc ESM version. ITS FRIKKIN HUGE!

I didn't do any extra reinforcing but the nacelles are glued on. (P-40 is the Top Flite ARF)

Greetings from Ireland!

Just starting out on my KMP /ESM / YT Tigercat, this is a great forum, going to attempt all the Col Winters mods but building the following format:

E-flight 160 setup as per Greg Covey - Ampd review with dual 10S
85A CC ESC
Sierra Retracts
Futaba everything 3305's mainly with 3003's for flaps, 3317's for each gear door and jetronics sequencer.
Going for deep cockpit kit and gloss automotive outer protective coat.

I will post pictures and try to avoid the pitfalls, aiming for 25lb-ish weight.

Good luck with the build! Will be great if you can get it under 30lbs, especially with extra paint, doors, cockpit etc. Dont worry too much if it gets to 30lbs as they still fly great at that loading.
Cheers

Fully sheeted then covered in film and painted to match the fiberglass.

Thanks for the info STOAT, since my last post I have located and purchased an original KMP all composite Tigercat from a hobby shop in Oregon. Gus, with KMP told me there was a store somewhere in oregon that had sold KMP products so I did the search and found the guy. He had one left in the blue finish. Ill post photos when I get it Here is my first Tcat that met the spiral of death[] I did a three piece wing mod. on it

it will be perfect, with the g26 zenoahs i had to ad 2 oz of lead to the tail, which isnt much, so you may have to add a small amount to the nose. Otherwise, sounds like a winning combo...the plane cooks with the 26cc, it will be blistering with the 30cc

Are you going with the Sierra Gear? Thats what I recommend! The plane is going to end up around 30lbs, you will be under that with the DLE's, but close and the Sierra gear will take the extra weight with no problem

N86 i grew up in Rogers and went to RHS. I am not sure on the gear yet. 850 for gear and brakes seem a very high price tag. i can get the ESM gear, gear doors and brakes for the cost of the Sierra gear alone at 650. They Sierra gear is more scale looking and the ESM isnt a real scale plane. i havent decieded yet. i would like to stay under 2000 total with the 30's and digital servo's. i can do that with the ESM gear.

All you guys that have the GEN 5 ESM gear has there been any problems with them? i havent went back and read everything in here lately. it would be nice if there was a sticky with all the major details lol.

I will put all control linkages in the plane if suitable. i will fly this plane fast and hard also. how is the Built up wing holding up?

The setup you are looking at is exactly what I have in mine (except I have EVO 26's). I have had lots of flying and no problems so far. The gear does need some maintainance from time to time and will require stripping and loctiting before use.
The built up wing is easily strong enough (as my flying on you tube will show!) and all up weight comes out at 26 lbs. I havent worried about breaks, but have just installed gear doors and has made it even faster! Easily the best plane I own!

Cant access You Tube at work but if you look up "XJet" and find his video channel, it is the only Tigercat one there.

Yep, the DLE30's will be a tight fit! Will likely have the heads sticking out of the cowls.
