Default B-17 ID Question

Can any help me determine the kit for this built B-17? I did a quick and ruff measure of 10 ½ feet (approximately 123”). The current owner father build the plan and recently passed away. The son knows nothing about it.

My guess is a American Eagle Model Aircraft Company B-17 kit –(does anyone know if they are out of business???????? their website http://www.flyrcmodels.com/ and phone number are down Bob Neider, 504-455-KITS )

Maybe a WingSpan Models http://www.wingspanmodels.com/Products/products.html

Or maybe a Nick Ziroli kit???????????

Any help is appreciated.

I will try and attached a picture of the built model.

thanks

Default RE: B-17 ID Question

Looks like an American Eagle.(www.flyrcmodels.com). Wing Mfg. (wwww.wingmfg.com) models has a 96" ws and it's definately NOT a "WingSpan Models" (www.wingspanmodels.com), they have a 1/6th, 1/9th and 1/12th B17 and have only been in business for about 1 yr. Their 1/9th is 139" ws. Ziroli doesn't have a B17 in his plans. Don Smith plans has a 138" ws 1/9th also. I recall American Eagle having one aboutt that size.

AmericanEagle is still in business, it was just baught out by another party. I don't know his name or number but if you do a littl e more research on that one you will find what you are looking for I am sure.

I am currently building the WinsSpan Models 1/9th scale and the Don Smith 1/9th Scale B17's.

Default RE: B-17 ID Question

Could also be a Wescraft, they had the original ~125" B-17 kit. The American Eagle is almost identical, and the most parts interchange. If it was one of the "raffle" planes from Bomber Field, it is most likely a Wescraft. Wescraft is no longer in business, however, I think someone is trying to get them back up and going again.
